Diego Costa is tasked with this restarting this match. Which he does.

Chelsea have another 45 minutes to stop Manchester City ending their winning streak - and going top of the table.

Chelsea dropped off the pace in the last ten minutes. They're missing Matic's discipline and organisation. Fabregas drifts around and follows the ball. You have to give him the ball to get the best out of him and we haven't seen a lot of him.

We saw last week, Chelsea were one down and Tottenham were running riot. Then it was a different team that came out in the second half. It'll have to be like that again.

    How about this, stats fans.

No player has scored more Premier League goals against Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois than.... Gary Cahill.

Cahill has stuck two goals past his team-mate, as have nine other top-flight players.

Chris Harvey: Chelsea are losing because Cahill and Hazard can't kick a ball with their weaker foot. Considering the salary, unforgivable

Asega Martin: Chelsea are committing more men at the back waiting for a counter attacking moment. This comes at a cost, city are on top.

Douglas Imaralu: The first half confirms why Fabregas is not getting games.

Manchester City's goal may have arrived in unlikely circumstances but it was deserved after they took charge in the final 20 minutes of the first half.

Chelsea are being stretched by City's width and the likes of Hazard and Costa are now being closed down after a bright start.

City's fans were mixing cheers and jeers at half-time as they were still venting their fury on referee Anthony Taylor after his first-half performance.

So City edge the scoreline. They also edge the possession and territory stats.

The home side have created the better chances, I'd suggest, with Sergio Aguero twice going close. Although Eden Hazard should perhaps of shot instead of cutting back when he rounded Claudio Bravo.

One shot on target, one goal...

I think that goal has been coming - City have been higher and higher up the field.

Should Gary Cahill have gone for that ball with his other foot? I don't actually know what he was trying to do, because the ball went in off his shin. Go for that ball his left foot and he'd have cleared it.

Before that, another fantastic ball from Kevin de Bruyne, who whipped it in and Sergio Aguero was just off target. At half-time Antonio Conte must surely change things to get someone across to De Bruyne, because every time he gets the ball out wide he's making things happen.

No, Chelsea can't go into the break level. Manchester City lead thanks to that howler from Gary Cahill and are, just about, good value for that narrow lead.

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear.

Gary Cahill gifts the lead to Manchester City with the sort of finish that would feature on Danny Baker's ' Own Goals and Gaffes'.

Jesus Navas sticks in a cross from the right which still doesn't beat the first man - but still goes in.

Cahill gets his feet into more of a tangle than Ed Balls, volleying the ball over Thibaut Courtois and into the top left corner.

Anthony Taylor will not be receiving any Christmas cards from Manchester City fans. They are not happy. The home team reckon they have another penalty shout when Ilkay Gundogan is bundled over.

This is very finely balanced. City have attacked more, but Chelsea look great on the break and have had moments themselves. This scoreline accurately reflects the contest so far.

Leroy Sane is coming into this game now. The Manchester City winger turns into an Alpine skier, slaloming through Chelsea tackles like they are Olympic plastic-pole gates. But Gary Cahill comes to the rescue with a last-ditch challenge as Sane looks to shoot from a central position.

Manchester City fans are infuriated that referee Anthony Taylor did not give a foul after David Luiz stepped across Sergio Aguero following a mix-up with Cesar Azpilicueta.

It has really fired up the home support and Pep Guardiola's side are now enjoying their best period of the game. Just starting to get lively.

I tell you what, David Luiz has been excellent since returning to Chelsea. No more PlayStation defending. Just Premier League defending. Top drawer stuff as he stands up to shackle Sergio Aguero, Chelsea clearing the resulting corner.
