He's gone to hit it with the outside of his left foot and scooped it over. In terms of the move, Negredo got some of the Hull defenders to commit. You'd think with the confidence of a couple of goals at Leicester, he'd at least hit the target.

There we go! First chance of the game and it's a good one, lovely first-time lay-off by Marten de Roon lays in Alvaro Negredo, he's maybe 12 yards out but goes with the outside of his left foot for some reason and lashes it over.

I've not been counting the passes, but I think there's been more backwards than forwards. It's a good job there's not extra-time. Hull might see it as a good thing not to lose this game, but surely Boro want to play? At the moment, the ball is the enemy of both sides.

Straight away Alvaro Negredo looks like a lonely figure up front. The ball was played up to him and there were three black shirts around him.

Both managers should be targeting this one as a very winnable game - but they have both set up in defensive mind in the early stages.

There's a reason why Hull are struggling. The couple of times I've seen them they have looked very ordinary. It's almost as if they know that the bottom three will be very likely.

Twenty minutes to kick-off at the Riverside, where most folk are wisely still sheltering from the elements inside the concourses. The weather report said it was set to be hovering around 1C this evening, and each player during their warm-up is creating a cloud of visible breath.

    Definitely a two-pairs-of-socks night. And a Bovril.

The second round of the FA Cup draws to a close tonight, as in-form National League side Lincoln City host League One strugglers Oldham

Lincoln, who have not lost a game since 24 September, are bidding to reach the next stage for the first time since the 2009-10, while Oldham have failed to reach the third round for the past two seasons.

The winning team will face an away trip to Ipswich in the next round.
