Jose Mourinho is being brave and looks like he will respond by putting Marcus Rashford on, because his side are coming under increasing pressure.

Spurs have been better in this second half, much better spirit.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham

Free-kick for Spurs in a good area after Christian Eriksen is tripped by Marcos Rojo. How's the Dane's shooting today?

On target, pushed clear by David de Gea. You'd expect him to save that, and he did.

  3. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Southampton 1-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough had mustered a league-low 36 shots on target this season going into the weekend and they've had just two so far today. Can they possibly get back into this one?

They have a penalty shout waved away for handball - it hit the chest of Jose Fonte. That's why.

Lee Hounslow: Typical, see a chance to get into top 4 today and typical Spurs looking to blow it!

Louis Porter: If Mourinho brings on Fellaini again later in this game, I will time how long it takes before he regrets it, again.

R2-D2: Apparently today's goal quota for home team is only one

  5. CLOSE!published at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham

Paul Pogba is again close to putting this game beyond Spurs, breaking from the middle and playing a one-two with Ander Herrera, before lashing in a shot which Hugo Lloris saves well.

Spurs then look to counter and Pogba goes in the book for tripping Mousa Dembele. A very good second half at Old Trafford.

Liverpool v West Ham (16:30 GMT)

Sadio Mane starts for Liverpool despite limping off in the second half of the defeat at Bournemouth last weekend. Fellow forward Adam Lallana returns to the starting XI while Joel Matip returns from an ankle injury.

West Ham welcome back Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio after groin strains.

    Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham

Wow! Paul Pogba takes the free-kick after that foul and hits it as sweet as a nut, up and over the wall from 25 yards out, Hugo Lloris rendered as a bystander, but the ball thunks the corner of post and bar and it's cleared. You don't get much closer than that to scoring!

That is where the game is going to be won, probably from a cross from Spurs if they can get on the end of it or from Manchester United on the counter attack.

We saw the merits of having a striker who can make something from nothing earlier in the day with Diego Costa's winner and that is brilliant from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. United have been under pressure, they smash the ball clear and the Swede brings it down, beats Jan Vertonghen and then finds Paul Pogba, who is fouled. Such a release valve.

It's all Tottenham at the moment. Are United sitting back or can they just not get the ball? A bit of both.

    Southampton 1-0 Middlesbrough

Here is that Southampton goal in graphical form.

The latter stages of the move saw good link-up play between Saints' Sam McQueen (38), Oriol Romeu (14), Jordy Clasie (4) and James Ward-Prowse (16), before he laid it off to Sofiane Boufal (19), who blasted home in spectacular style from 25 yards.

David Ljunggren: Kind of Boufal to wake up the stadium and the television audience

Graham Green: Watching this game, it's clear why Southampton and Middlesbrough are the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League.

Sandra Marsh: As a joint MUFC and Chelsea fan this is turning into a good day for me. Cue Fellaini coming on to ruin it.

    Sorry Sandra, what now?

Spurs are having a good spell and they make a change to try to force the issue. On comes Moussa Sissoko, off goes Son Heung-min.

    Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham

What a miss! Christian Eriksen, who has just had a shot well saved by David de Gea, whips in a free-kick, Victor Wanyama is completely unmarked and bang in front of goal, seven yards out. He must close his eyes, the only explanation as he somehow heads it at a right-angle to the goal and out.

    A proper 50p head.

Jose Mourinho is back to his best, getting into the heads of the officials after a couple of challenging seasons in terms of decisions.

He is a little bit edgy, he senses that maybe his side are coming under increasing pressure and Spurs have a chance to get back on level terms.

Spurs have played out from the back well, but it's given United time to regroup and Harry Kane has been offered so little so far.

    Sofiane Boufal (53 mins)

Pick that one out! The game needed a lift and there it is, a swerving drive from 20 yards from Moroccan Sofiane Boufal. He's the Saints' record signing and that's a first goal in the Premier League.

James Ward-Prowse finds him on the left of the D, he takes one touch to set himself and then hits it left-footed, loads of swerve off the outside of his boot and into the corner.

Southampton needed to raise their game and they have, much, much better since the break. Adam Forshaw is booked for tripping Nathan Redmond in full flow.

I think with the 1-0 lead Manchester United will be a danger on the counter attack when there is the opportunity for them to run and break into space. If it gets to 2-0 then it could be game over.

    Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham

Strong start from the hosts as they win a free-kick wide on the right. Henrikh Mkhitaryan stands over it and finds Michael Carrick at the near post, his flick on is dangerous but well defended by Spurs. An early second goal could well settle this one, but after those three 1-1 draws in a row you wonder if the home side will become nervy if it stays like this.
