    Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, speaking to Sky Sports: "We wanted more. It was a big disappointment in terms of result.

"We were less dangerous than the last few games, especially going forward we missed a bit. It depends on small details and in the Premier League because everything is so tight. We tried to get back into it after we went behind but couldn't get the momentum."

  6. 'Hopefully the start of a run'published at 16:15 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick: "We needed to get a run going and hopefully that can be the start of it. We haven't hit top gear and we're playing catch up so we're happy with the three points. I think you can understand the late nerves the way results have gone. It wasn't our prettiest performance in recent weeks but we dug in, created chances and overall a good performance.

"It was a test for us. You can look at the table and think there is a long way to catch up, Tottenham are a good team but we showed good character. We have said it for a number weeks that it'll turn, Sometimes you have to just find a win from somewhere. There's still a lot to come from us.

"Henrikh Mkhitaryan is so talented, clever, such a nice lad and I just hope his injury is not too bad."

It's disappointment for Spurs. Manchester United showed an attacking threat and deserved the lead before half time.

They then banked up and got so many players behind the ball. They were desperate not to concede and saw it through.

United are still in the mix and are getting stronger here each week at Old Trafford, they are still capable of getting into the top four.

Vieira151: People are going crazy at Rose for the tackle - it wasn't that bad a tackle. Ankle twist was unfortunate from the way both fell

Liz Tray: Spurs are poor, where's the team that ripped City apart?! Nothing on the bench either. Utd are being made to look good.

Fissuh Hailu Kelelom: Nervy! C'mon United kill it don't kill us

How has he missed that?! Jay Rodriguez has put it over from maybe nine inches out. Brilliant from Nathan Redmond as he wins the ball back on the left, piles into the area and then flashes it across goal.

Yes, it's coming in at pace and yes, he's stretching - but that's a remarkable miss. Almost Serbian fourth division stuff...

Every time a Spurs player wins the ball at the back and tries to play forward, what has happened? They have been stopped, they have been fouled.

For some managers it is just about winning, and that is why Jose Mourinho was brought to the club.
