It's a great ball but it does take a big big deflection. 

It's a good counter attack and an excellent finish but that deflection gave Son a little extra time and space. 

Spurs are deserved winners tonight. It's been a performance that has said "we are still up there!"

Saints right-back Cedric Soares goes early as he tries to catch Spurs out with a quick ball forward. Unfortunately for the hosts, Shane Long goes too early as well. Offside.

Only way back into this game for 10-man Saints is a Spurs defensive mistake. No sign of one yet.

Another change for Spurs. Mousa Dembele gets a shake of the hand from ref Mike Dean before trudging off to high five Harry Winks on his way to the bench.

But Saints might have a chance of nicking something if Spurs keep clowning about like this. Hugo Lloris races out of his goal to head out a punt forward - only as far as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Needs composure... it gets a rush of blood to the head. Hojbjerg sidefoots back to the Spurs keeper, who breathes a sigh of relief.

Remember when I said at the start that the early goal may not have been a good thing for Southampton... It clearly wasn't. 

They have just not been able to find a pattern since then. The lack of pressure they have been able to put on the ball has been the most concerning thing from their perspective.

You these at a football ground about as often as a clacker nowadays. A TRIPLE substitution. Desperate times call for desperate measures...

Shane Long, Dusan Tadic and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are the men summoned.

Fraser Forster's crossbar is still rattling. Spurs left-back Danny Rose surges down the flank, his cutback eventually falling to team-mate Christian Eriksen. The Dane has time to take a touch, line up his shot and then whack it. Hard. Forster is unable to move, rooted to his spot as the woodwork saves the home side.

Southampton have a little bit of hesitancy tonight that I haven't seen previously. 

It's difficult to see how they are going to get back into the game with ten men. 

They can't get near them. They have got to do *something*. 

Groans from the home fans as a rare Southampton move forward breaks down. Oriol Romeu's pass towards Steve Davis is undercooked, allowing Danny Rose to slide in on the edge of the away area and start a Tottenham counter...

Whooosh! Victor Wanyama might be clumsy with his feet in the tackle now and again, but he can be nifty with them when the ball is there. He shuffles past the Saints midfield before slamming a rising shot towards the Saints goal. Home keeper Fraser Forster tips over. Safety first.
