Everton remain seventh in the Premier League table but are six points behind sixth-placed Manchester United having played a game more.

Next up for the Toffees is a home game against Ronald Koeman's former club Southampton on Monday (15:00 GMT).

Everton boss Ronald Koeman, speaking to BBC Sport: "I’m really pleased about our performance. I wasn’t happy with our slow start but we showed a really good attitude and reaction twice. 

"We played good football and created a lot of opportunities. We could have stopped the first goal but not the second. The team showed good spirit. We needed a bit more luck like Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late header because that was three points.

"Ross Barkley is an important player for the team. He showed his quality. He had a good performance.

"We like to keep the momentum after the win against Leicester. Two away games, four points is good."

Hull face up to seven league and cup games in three different competitions in January - starting with a visit to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Monday (15:00 GMT).

Hull City manager Mike Phelan, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it's a terrific point. The goal we conceded at the end of the first half changes your whole way of thinking. We produced a battling performance and I'm pleased with the players. We are in a battle for the rest of the season but we're up for it."

On keeper David Marshall's own goal: "Mistakes happen. I can remember many keepers and outfield players making mistakes. In the second half he pulled off a couple of important saves."

Confirmation that Hull City are off the bottom of the Premier League table. However, Mike Phelan's side will start 2017 propping up the rest if Swansea avoid defeat at home to Bournemouth tomorrow (15:00 GMT).

Everton boss Ronald Koeman, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think the crowd loved this game because it was really open. Twice we showed great character and a good reaction. You can't stop a free-kick specialist like Robert Snodgrass. We fought for everything. We had the better chances to win the game. You like to win every game, but sometimes you have to be happy with one point."

On his transfer window plans: "We know what we want and where we need to improve."

Everton captain Phil Jagielka, speaking to Sky Sports: "We got off to the worst possible start. We showed some decent resilience and started the second half well. Robert Snodgrass is a player of great ability. I'm sure the manager wants to bring a few players in. He has got his own plans."

Hull boss Mike Phelan will be thinking what could have been. They took the lead twice and threw it away to a free header, when you have three big centre-backs.

Overall, a thoroughly entertaining game. It was was scrappy and frantic at times but a draw is a fair result.

Robert Snodgrass was excellent, but not just for his set pieces, but his all-round play too.

Ross Barkley came up with a fantastic header for the equaliser, but striker Romelu Lukaku was kept quiet.
