Prior to the goal, Ashley Williams and Leighton Baines had to make vital blocks to protect Joel Robles' goal.

Everton switched off with two players going for the ball and Michael Dawson had a tap-in.
There was nobody on the post. The back post is absolutely crucial, if someone was there, that goal would not occur.
Hull 1-0 Everton
Hull are off the bottom of the Premier League table as it stands. Managerless Swansea are the team now propping up the top-tier.
Michael Dawson
Hull have the lead and no-one can say they don't deserve it after a blistering start.
A flick-on on by Curtis Davies runs through to Michael Dawson just outside the six-yard area and the Tigers skipper smashes home with real authority.
Everton have not turned up.
Hull 0-0 Everton
Hull need the points and they've made a cracking start.
Jake Livermore has the first shot of the game - firing a volley towards goal from 20 yards which is well blocked by Ashley Williams before Robert Snodgrass goes close to scoring with an ambitious curling effort just wide of Joel Robles' right-hand post.

There isn't a great deal of quality in the Hull side.
Mick McCarthy used to say at Wolves, "I have picked the 11 out there and they are best 11 I have got". That is what Mike Phelan has done.
There is not an awful lot between the players, there is not one player who is definitely on the teamsheet week in, week out.
Up front, Dieumerci Mbokani is your main goal threat. Is he going to keep you in the Premier League? He struggled massively at Norwich last year.
Hull 0-0 Everton
Having won in yellow at Leicester earlier in the week, Everton are back in their traditional blue and white.
We're under way, folks.

It's like a Justin Bieber concert at the KCOM. The lights have been dimmed just before the teams emerge. It's a cold night and Ronald Koeman, who is no softie, is wearing a big black coat to keep warm.

Hats off to Everton's fans. They've travelled in their thousands to the KCOM Stadium. Will they witness back-to-back league wins for the first time since September?

Hull City began 2016 dreaming of a return to the Premier League; they end the year fearing an all-too-speedy return to the Championship.
Bottom of the table, four points adrift of safety, things don't look good. Two early wins in August proved a false dawn, one victory since paints a more accurate picture of a squad lacking enough quality and sufficient depth.
A few masterstrokes are needed from Mike Phelan in the transfer window.
What a start by Newcastle. Matt Ritchie puts them ahead from a fourth-minute free-kick against Nottingham Forest. Are the Toon heading for the top of the Championship?

Hull City defender Alex Bruce has received a letter of thanks - and £5 to buy himself a drink - after coming to the rescue of a driver stranded at a service station.
Mr Twining needed assistance to open his car bonnet and was turned down by five other people before Bruce got involved.
Bruce, who is recovering from injury, plans to treat himself to a shandy.
What a pro!

Johnny Magrinho: Disappointed not to see Mason Holgate in Everton's line-up. He's one for the future but certainly good enough to play against Hull. Should be starting!

Five-time Liverpool title winner
We already know the problem at Hull was what happened over the summer - or rather did not happen in terms of strengthening their squad after getting promotion.
That has left them in an awful mess and they need to improve every area of their team, but their problem is who is going to go there?
When you are down at the bottom of the table, the reality of the situation is that it is a nightmare attracting players.

Everton arrive on the back of a morale-boosting triumph away to champions Leicester. A three-man defence worked well for Ronald Koeman, and Romelu Lukaku took his goal tally into double figures again.
The Belgian will be licking his lips at the prospect of what might come his way at the KCOM Stadium.

Everton
Ronald Koeman has been explaining why he has changed a winning team after dropping Mason Holgate, Aaron Lennon and Ramiro Funes Mori to the Everton bench.
"It's about freshness. It's impossible to play with the same 11 players with three games in eight days," says Koeman.

"Here for the culture. You're only here for the culture. Here for the cuuultuuure…"
The vultures might be circling above the KCOM Stadium but Hull has been named as UK City of Culture in 2017.
Will that require Mike Phelan's side to play cultured football?

You don't see smiles on the supporters at the KCOM Stadium anymore, you don't get the buzz of the fans.
Hull are in the League Cup semi-final where they face Manchester United and not so long a ago were in the FA Cup final.
Ten years ago, if they said all this would happen, they would have bitten your hand off.
A clean sweep is needed at the club and Mike Phelan will hope the owners don't want a new manager.
Championship
Heavy fog means Brighton's game at home to Cardiff is off.
Spare a thought for the hundreds of travelling Cardiff City fans who were on their way to Championship leaders Brighton.
The match was called off about 90 minutes before the scheduled 19:45 GMT kick-off because of heavy fog and they are now on their way back to Wales.
That means Newcastle, two points and one place behind Brighton, will go top if they beat Nottingham Forest.
In addition, third-placed Reading are at home to Fulham, while Ipswich host Bristol City.
There's also four games in League One and another three in League Two.
