  1. 'Money to spend at Everton'published at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

Teenage forward Ademola Lookmanis on his way to Everton from Charlton and that will only be the start. I think they will do quite a bit of business in every area of the team.

I can see them being one of the busier teams and their manager Ronald Koeman will do as much as he can.

The Dutchman will have money to spend too. I get the impression that the new owner might be thinking to himself, 'let's have a little bit of a go'.

Eight of the last 10 teams to find themselves bottom of the Premier League table on New Year's Eve have been relegated.

The exceptions? Leicester City won seven of their last nine games in 2014-15 to avoid the drop, while Sunderland won four of the last five at the end of 2013-14 to secure safety.

It's been a bittersweet 2016 for Hull City.

They were third in the Championship table at the turn of the calendar year before winning promotion via the play-offs in May. They even topped the Premier League table for a few hours after beating champions Leicester City on the opening day of the season.

Yet the Tigers start their final game of 2016 against Everton at the bottom.

Another defeat will all but ensure they start 2017 propping up the table but a draw will lift them above managerless Swansea City, who entertain Bournemouth on Saturday (15:00 GMT), while a win will propel Mike Phelan's men to 18th.
