    Bournemouth 2-0 Arsenal

Chelsea will be nine points clear of Arsenal with a game in hand if the Gunners lose tonight. You can't really write any title challenge off in January can you?

    Oh yeah. Yes you can.

Another great chance for Swansea. Big Sam will be tearing his hair out as a quality Gylfi Sigudsson delivery is headed over by Federico Fernandez. Are Palace missing Scott Dann in there tonight?

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Bournemouth 2-0 Arsenal

Arsenal again threaten a way back into the game as sub Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulls a low cross in from the right, Alex Iwobi arrives on it but lacks a bit of composure and slices it wide first time. He probably had time to bring that in and finish.

Swansea are a different beast with Fernando Llorente in the team and they are trying to find his forehead as often as possible. Palace survive a couple of testing deliveries from the left but it's all Swansea at the moment.

Arsenal need a gritty midfielder to protect the back four. They are trying to compensate by having two in there.

There is a weakness and fragility about Arsenal - it is not different this year to past seasons.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Swansea

New Swansea manager Paul Clement is in the stands.

Will he be enjoying what he's seen so far? No goals conceded means he should be pretty satisfied. For now.

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

It's a mish-mash of a Watford team tonight thanks to a host of injuries, and it's rather showing so far. At times it looks like they are playing a back six, and yet Stoke are still finding space down the left.

    Bournemouth 2-0 Arsenal

Here's a stat to cheer Arsenal fans up. Substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first senior goal against Bournemouth, for Southampton in a League Cup tie at St Mary's in August 2010, and his sole league goal of 2015-16 came on this ground in February.

Also on the stats front, Bournemouth defender Steve Cook leads the entire Premier League in both clearances and headed clearances in 2016-17. He's already added to both tallies tonight, and can expect a hard day's night up against Olivier Giroud.

Callum Wilson should have shot sooner. He's trying to finish on his third touch but you don't get that in the Premier League.

Callum Wilson has a chance to put Bournemouth 3-0 up as he springs a creaky offside trap and drives into the area but he wants a touch too many to settle the ball down and Shkodran Mustafi makes a fine tackle.

Harry Arter then slams a shot wide as the hosts continue their pressure.

  12. CLOSE!published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Swansea

Both sides look low on confidence and high on nerves. Perhaps not surprising as they are both down the wrong end of the table. Swansea - who should really be ahead - again threaten as Ki Sung-yueng shoots wide from a corner.

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

Marko Arnautovic, back from a three-match ban, skips down the line for Stoke and slides the ball square to Jon Walters, but Sebastian Prodl in the Watford defence recovers just in time to block the forward's attempt on goal.

Heurelho Gomes then flaps at a Charlie Adam corner, but eventually the Hornets scramble clear.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Swansea

Fifteen minutes gone at Selhurst Park in Sam Allardyce's first home game in charge of Crystal Palace.

You would think they were the away side as they can't get hold of the ball.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Swansea

Swansea's defending is so nervy and jittery as they make a real hash of clearing a Yohan Cabaye free-kick from the right, Alfie Mawson ends up heading it straight to Cabaye in fact and he can only find the side-netting.

Swansea then counter, Fernando Llorente finds Jack Cork in the area, he has to score but hesitates and Wayne Hennessey turns his effort over.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Bournemouth 2-0 Arsenal

Much better from the Gunners as Aaron Ramsey takes a ball on his chest, swivels and hits in one movement and his shot is deflected just wide. The closest Arsenal have come.

Glen Johnson is wearing number eight and playing in a back three. It's enough to melt the head of any casual observer. His ball forward comes to nothing as Watford have their first effort, Etienne Capoue slashing one way, way over.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Bournemouth 2-0 Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on for Arsenal in place of the stricken Francis Coquelin.

Is Mohamed Elneny good enough? Are Francis Coquelin and Granit Xhaka better than what went before them? I'm not sure they are.

I'm not sure Coquelin going down is a bad thing? You don't need two sitting midfielders as you have to go for it.

  20. ouch!

Another injury problem for Arsenal by the looks of it as Francis Coquelin sits down in midfield, frustrated. Looks like a hamstring injury and he trudges slowly off, straight down the tunnel.
