So James Milner has to be content with a place in the bench against his boyhood club.

Maybe that's because Jurgen Klopp is worried Milner might wish he was playing on the other side. (We're joking - and not questioning his integrity!)

Milner is the only player left from the last time the two clubs met at Anfield - all the way back in October 2003.

Manager Klopp says in his programme notes that he knows Leeds are "one of England's great teams" because Milner is always telling him!

And the German can't resist a dig about West Yorkshire rivalry...

Which ONE player do you miss the most at your club and WHY?

Joe Wilkinson: David Nugent at #PNEFC, external. Bought for £100K. Sold for £6m. Scored some unbelievable goals for club and that one for England. Just.

Jake Powell: Tevez at City, truly world class player who could grab any game by the scruff of the neck, despite his antics!

Rodney McCain: Roy Keane. Has never been properly replaced, and would be worth £120m quid now if Pogba is going for £89m!

Earlier today, a plane carrying 81 people, including a top Brazilian football team, crashed on its approach to the city of Medellin in Colombia.

Colombia's civil aviation body says only six people survived the crash, blamed on an electrical fault.

The chartered aircraft, flying from Brazil via Bolivia, was carrying members of the Chapecoense team.

The team had been due to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, against Medellin team Atletico Nacional.

There will be a minute's silence at Anfield and the KCOM Stadium to remember the victims.

In different divisions, but Hull and Newcastle are separated by only three positions in the football pyramid.

The Tigers have been tame on their return to the Premier League, picking up just three wins from their opening 13 games, with relegation looming large.

By contrast, the Magpies have gobbled up everything in front of them, leading the way in the Championship with 13 wins in 18 games.

A win for Mike Phelan's side will be classed as a shock today, surely?

Lewis Keeffe: Kevin de Bruyne at Chelsea. To see him Lukaku and Hazard play in the PL under Conte would of been mesmerising.

Chris Brown: Sir Terence Henry esq, Lord of North London. We'd still finish 4th as we cant defend but at least we'd be entertained.

Dani Riley: Paul Scholes, the most underrated player in the Premier League if not the world

Chico Flores at Swansea. Everything about him, on the pitch and off, was fabulous. A truly flamboyant, skillful and charismatic player.

    Jude, Swansea

Dele Alli at MK Dons, because he's now one of the best midfielders in the country! We really could do with an energetic box-to-box goalscoring midfielder right now

    Peter in Milton Keynes

Has to be Stevie G. Was a world class player and we need a rock in midfield

It's six years since the Reds and the Whites last met, a League Cup third round tie at Elland Road, settled by a David Ngog goal for Rafa Benitez's men.

But could this season finally bring some much-needed cheer for both sides?

Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League, just one point off leaders Chelsea, while Leeds are fifth in the Championship, looking for promotion back to the top flight.

In this competition, only two further victories are required for a place in the final, so an opportunity of picking up some silverware is not to be sniffed at.

Here come the young men. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hands starts to teenagers Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria, although Wales Under-19 forward Ben Woodburn - given his debut from the bench against Sunderland on Saturday - is again a substitute.

As expected, the German rings the changes - his hand somewhat forced by injuries to Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana.

Keeper Simon Mignolet starts in eight changes from Saturday's 2-0 home win against Sunderland. Georginio Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane and Emre Can keep their places.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Moreno, Stewart, Wijnaldum, Can, Ejaria, Mane, Origi.

Andrew Neill: Shearer at nufc. Goals, defending, passion and just all round drive. Great players change games and Alan certainly did that.

So for today's chat, I want to know:

Which ONE player do you miss the most at your club and WHY?

Don't just give me a name, give me a reason, such as his goalscoring exploits or his calamitous defending.

Fancy Liverpool to cruise past their Championship visitors tonight? You're not the only one.

The bookies are heavily backing the hosts, despite Jurgen Klopp likely to field a changed - and probably quite youthful - side.

You're looking at 3-10 in favour of the Reds. Up to 11-1 for the Whites, whose gaffer Garry Monk kept his cards close to his chest about team selection.

Backing an away win could see the Christmas turkey go up a few pounds...
