    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Villa get Leeds' left-wing corner clear. Then, at the other end, Jordan Ayew can't quite collect a forward ball.

But moments later, Hadi Sacko gets in behind the Villa defence again! He tries to square it for Kemar Roofe but the ball is intercepted and Villa breathe a little sigh of relief again.

    Rotherham 0-1 Burton

What were the chances of this happening?

Burton forward Chris O'Grady has not scored a goal for more than a year - 389 days to be precise.

But the former Rotherham man was first to the ball after Lewis Price spilled a shot, to tap the Brewers ahead - the Millers keeper won't want to see that again.

Hadi Sacko causes some nuisance for Villa near the byline and he wins a corner for the visitors, at the Holte End.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Leeds lump a long, hopeful ball up towards Souleymane Doukara but he can't connect with it to bring it down.

No luck for the isolated striker so far.

That would have been smash and grab.

Lloyd Dyer puts a sumptuous cross into the box, but Burton's Lucas Akins steers his shot wide from just six yards out.

Before that Rotherham's Joe Newell, who's proving to be the most dangerous player on the pitch, showed some nifty footwork before seeing his shot thwarted by... you guessed it, Jon McLaughlin.

We've played 32 minutes at the New York Stadium.

Moments later, James Chester's looping header drops just wide of the post. Robert Green might have had it covered, but it wasn't far away.

Good save from Robert Green again! Is it a cross? Is it a shot? Either way, Jordan Ayew's curling, inswinging effort is tipped away by the former England keeper.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Jordan Ayew wins a free-kick for Villa, in line with the edge of the penalty area, on the left.

    This is a dangerous position...

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Jack Grealish is moving well for Villa, trying to create something, but Leeds have so far - at times - doubled up on him. That would seem to be a deliberate instruction for Garry Monk's men.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

There is far less goalmouth action at Villa Park so far, compared to at the New York Stadium.

It's becoming something of a midfield battle in the midlands.

Down Villa's right, Alan Hutton mis-places a long ball and it goes out, harmlessly, for a throw.

This was a League Two fixture the last time these teams met in Yorkshire - that game ended 3-0 to Rotherham.

The Millers continue to threaten as we pass the 20-minute mark, with Jon McLaughlin saving Danny Ward's powerful free-kick and Richard Wood finding the side-netting with the rebound.

McLaughlin has also blocked an Izzy Brown volley - the Burton stopper is having a busy night.

Leeds' on-loan defender Pontus Jansson was receiving some treatment on the field but he is OK to continue for now.

There's only been the one shot of note from Kodija, which Rob Green made a good save from. That bit of fizz that was flying around at the start of the game has disappeared. Villa are still the better in midfield but they need to be working the Leeds defence more.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Villa's Nathan Baker is hesitant to deal with a swirling, inward cross from the left from Leeds' Stuart Dallas and the ball bounces out of play for a goal kick as he leaves it.

In the end, it was probably good defending - it seems he got a shout from his keeper to leave it, and there was no danger.

But I suspect the odd Villa fan endured a 'heart in mouth' moment there as the ball bounced across goal.

    Rotherham 0-0 Burton

The atmosphere is fairly muted at the New York Stadium, but there's no lack of commitment.

We're 12 minutes in and the hosts have had the first chance of note - Joe Newell plays a one-two with Joe Mattock and his shot in the area comes off a Burton man before being pushed wide by Jon McLaughlin.

Burton haven't won away all season and are struggling to get out of their half.

  16. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Villa are looking to release Jordan Ayew down their left wing into space at every opportunity. He's got some pace on him, the Ghanaian.

Leeds are just keeping possession in their own half and around halfway. They've calmed the early pressure from Villa for the time being.

Garry Monk's Leeds have won three games in a row prior to tonight's fixture and they've only conceded one goal in that run.

Can they keep their winning groove going at Villa Park?

  19. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leeds

Leeds' lone front man Souleymane Doukara almost brings down a long ball perfectly in the area to set up a chance but he just can't quite keep his balance to swivel and shoot and Villa get the ball clear.

That's the most promising position that Leeds have got themselves into so far.

    Rotherham 0-0 Burton

Relegation six-pointer? Cup final? Call it what you like, but this is a game between two sides in the bottom four of the Championship.

Rotherham have started with more intent in the first five minutes, while Burton seem to be deploying a 3-5-2 formation.

We already have our pantomime villain - Burton forward Chris O'Grady is being booed by the fans who used to cheer his name.
