Antonio Conte is only the second manager in Premier League history to win 13 of his opening 16 games in the competition (after John Gregory - at Aston Villa - in 1998).

  2. The state of the relegation battlepublished at 22:31 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at Selhurst Park, BBC Radio 5 live

Hull would be marooned if they didn't get those two wins at the start of the season.

It will be a difficult season for them, I don't think anyone will have any qualms about that. It looks a long hard road for them to stay in this division.

We have seen, particularly with Sunderland, how a team can get on a run but at this stage, probably the right three are in the bottom three places.

  3. Eight years comingpublished at 22:27 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Middlesbrough 0-3 Liverpool

This was Middlesbrough’s heaviest home defeat in the Premier League since October 2008 (0-5 vs Chelsea).

Boro conceded more goals tonight than they had in their four previous Premier League home games (2).

Indeed, Liverpool are the first team to score three league goals against Middlesbrough at the Riverside since Sheffield Wednesday in August 2014.

  4. Gundogan set for 'several months' out injuredpublished at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Man City 2-0 Watford

Ilkay Gundogan, who started the season out injured for Manchester City, looks like he's facing another long spell out.

He limped off today with knee ligament damage.

Boss Pep Guardiola said: "I'm so sad for Ilkay Gundogan as it looks like we’ll be without him for a long time. I think several months."

  6. Ibrahimovic performance 'amazing'published at 22:20 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

More from Jose Mourinho, asked about Manchester United's match winner Zlatan Ibrahimovic: "He did a phenomenal performance. After the goal to have the strength and spirit to go in front of the back four and defend. It was an amazing performance for a guy who is 35-years-old, scoring goals, being a leader, amazing."

And on his own touchline demeanor...

"I am calm. I sit on the bench and try not to show any emotion. I am happy with the victory and even if we had not won I would be the same, happy with the performance.

"We played very, very, well. It was a big evolution. People sometimes forget about good performances and focus on results. We are still sixth so need points."

  8. 'Things aren't going in a good direction'published at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    West Brom 3-1 Swansea

Swansea manager Bob Bradley on Match of the Day: "Defence is an area where we have to improve. If we could've kept in the game at 1-0, started to play some passes... but all too many times this season we give up the second goal all too quickly and that happened again.

"Even when you play well, you don't always take the lead. On both the second and third, we didn't move out very quickly, they were allowed deep into the box.

"Today I thought the fist half was solid, now the key is being able to play for 90 minutes and handle different situations in the game.

"Things aren't going in a good direction but they're still specific things that need to improve."

  9. 'You expect the linesman to see that'published at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Man Utd

    Paul PogbaImage source, Reuters

More from Palace boss Alan Pardew: "We did better second half, but they have some quality players and we've been undone at the end by two of the best. It was galling for my team.

"The manner of the first goal tonight is galling. We knew it was offside, it hits his arm and you expect the linesman to see that.

"We missed a bit of oomph in the first half but second half was better. We just couldn't see it out.

"We scored a really well manufactured goal, it was a body blow at the end but the resolve of the team is strong.

"We have Chelsea next and we need the same commitment. A refereeing decision to go our way wouldn't be a bad thing. We need to start winning."

  10. 'We gave everything tonight'published at 22:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Man Utd

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew: "We deserved reward for the efforts we put in. For the first goal, both of those incidents go against us, an offside and a handball, and Marcos Rojo's tackle is dangerous, it's another two-footed tackle. I don't want to lean on the referee because we gave everything tonight.

"We have to take what we can in terms of confidence and take it to Chelsea at the weekend.

"We worked hard on making it difficult for United and we didn't deserve that blow at the end, it was real quality from Pogba and Zlatan. "

  12. 'For 20 minutes we were almost unstoppable'published at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho speaking to Match of the Day: "It was very difficult but very deserved. In the first half we were in control. In the second half they had a little reaction and got the bonus of the goal and then we went into our best period of the game.

"For 20 minutes we were almost unstoppable. Their goalkeeper made a magnificent save from Rooney's shot, we had Mata's goal, a penalty (appeal) and our goal. It was an amazing reaction and I am really pleased for the players."

  15. 'We must kill the game'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Sunderland 0-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: "When you have the possibility to kill the game you must kill the game. We had this possibility but we didn't and at the end Courtois made a good save. It was good, it is important for the future because today we didn't pay but when you have the possibility to kill the game you must kill the game. I hope in the future we can improve.

"Cesc is a good player for us. In the midfield I have four midfielders and it is important for me to evaluate the form of the single players, some games you need players more physical and some games with more technical. It is important that Cesc had a good game.

"I prefer my players not to look at the table and to focus on the next game in three days. We must prepare very well to have a good Christmas."

"No comment" was Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho's answer when he was asked about the referee today.

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Leicester striker at Selhurst Park, BBC Radio 5 live

It is some going for Chelsea to win 10 on the spin.

Surely they can't keep it up.

It has still got a look of a really competitive Premier League season.
