Accies aren't out of this, but it is Daniel Redmond's turn to pick the wrong option when Dougie Imrie found himself screaming for the ball in a promising position.

The chances are coming thick and fast for Celtic as Moussa Dembele blocks a clearance, but his header goes just wide, then Stuart Armstrong fails to connect properly in front of goal.

It is Accies' turn to be wasteful as Ali Crawford shoots wide when a pass into the path of Dougie Imrie would have been more fruitful.

Leigh Griffiths has another chance to score but blasts wastefully over after Patrick Roberts lays the ball back into the path of the Celtic striker.

We are off again at Celtic Park, where the Premiership leaders have a chance to move further ahead of third-placed Aberdeen after that abandonment at Pittodrie.

“It is outwith our control and Aberdeen’s as well. At Motherwell, we have had problems with floodlights in the past too, so they have my sympathy. Unfortunately these things happen.

"My sympathy is with the Motherwell fans and we will see what we can do in terms of helping them with travel for coming back up here for whenever the game is played again. We will discuss the options with them.

"The key thing is the safety of the players and the people in the ground. 

"I think it is the right decision by Aberdeen and they made it promptly. These things happen unfortunately. We just have to get on with it.”

Hamilton will feel irked that Celtic's opening goal came at a time when they were looking their most lively and assertive on the ball. 

Even so, once Celtic made the breakthrough, it enabled a further period of dominance and they might have scored twice again, through Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele, but both failed to hit the target. 

Hamilton will try to stay focused and organised, while Celtic will continue to press and probe for openings in the second half. 

It also ought to focus the minds of the Celtic defenders that Massimo Donati was allowed a free header while the game was 0-0, but he finished meekly.

Almost 2-0 to the home side as Leigh Griffiths is sent scurrying through on goal again, but he pulls his effort just wide of the upright and the half ends with the striker's earlier goal separating the teams.

BBC Radio Scotland commentator Liam McLeod is explaining that there had been power failure in the area earlier in the week and the club's back-up generator had held up - until the game started of course!

Meanwhile, former Aberdeen director Willie Miller says "questions must be asked" if the game was started despite problems with the power.

"You can't sweep it under the carpet," he says.

It's all over for the night after floodlight failure at Pittodrie.

Former Celtic midfielder Massimo Donati has a great chance to score from a corner as Accies grow into the game, but the veteran heads straight into the arms of goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

While the lights have gone out at Pittodrie, there are also problems with radio signals from Celtic Park!

The players are trooping off again. Motherwell striker Scott McDonald is smiling but the fans travelling up to the north east from Lanarkshire might not see the funny side.
