Celtic are controlling possession, but they are also finding Hamilton to be well-organised, disciplined and tenacious. The home midfielders have been trying to thread balls through the Hamilton defence and Patrick Roberts has provided a lively outlet down the right, darting in between the wing-back, Dougie Imrie, and the centre-back, Scott McMann.

There has been little respite for the visitors - which may tell in the end - but there have been two breakaways upfield when Rakish Bingham and Grant Gillespie made headway, but support was limited as Hamilton sought to remain compact in defence.

It will be a long, testing evening for Hamilton, but so far it is also demanding patience probing from Celtic.

  18. Carrots are juicy at Pittodriepublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    Aberdeen v Motherwell (19:45)

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

A third successive home game for Aberdeen and an important one with Rangers four points ahead in second place.

Derek McInnes emphasised the need for better service to Jayden Stockley, who replaces Adam Rooney, with Shay Logan starting at Niall McGinn's expense.

Chris Cadden returns for Motherwell, who have the opportunity to move back into the top six and edge away form the bunch of teams in that tight pack from sixth down.

  19. Tough task for depleted Acciespublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    Celtic v Hamilton (19:45)

    Richard Wilson
    BBC Scotland at Celtic Park

The task for Hamilton is daunting: how to halt Celtic in their tracks. The visitors are further hindered by a lack of defenders, with Massimo Donati forced into emergency service as a centre-back on his return to Celtic Park, and having to face both Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths.

The latter pairing will be fascinating to watch, since Brendan Rodgers has so far resisted repeating his experiment of earlier in the season of playing them together. He felt then that the partnership didn't work but now says they are better equipped to dovetail. The likelihood is that one will have a freer role and one will need to be more central, but the prospect is of a confident, attack-minded Celtic side being spearheaded by two proven goalscorers.

Hamilton have taken points off top four sides this season, but this seems more intimidating. They will hope to emerge with an unlikely positive result but also not to have their confidence damaged - their last visit here having ended 8-1 to the home side.

  20. McInnes explains changespublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    Aberdeen v Motherwell (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes on BBC Radio Scotland: "I feel that Niall McGinn is somebody we have to be careful with.

"We can't expect him to play two games so quickly and we are looking to January to give him a rest.

"Jayden Stockley has not had as many starts as others and gets the opportunity tonight.

"It is important for our own sake to win our home games and Saturday's draw against St Johnstone felt like a defeat."
