  1. Deadly Monaco making Man City sufferpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Manchester City 1-2 Monaco

Every Manchester City frailty at the back is being brutally picked apart by Monaco's pace and movement. Ruthless.

It has been a tortuous first 45 minutes for City's defence - but they have shown a threat of their own and Pep Guardiola must restore some belief at half-time.

    Manchester City 1-2 Monaco

Monaco have had 10 shots in the first half v Man City (3 shots), with just 29% possession.

I don't know why the referee didn't give that penalty. We saw the replays and even the Monaco players were looking round and couldn't believe Aguero got booked for diving.

  4. League One updatepublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

Josh Wright gives Gillingham the lead over AFC Wimbledon in a crucial clash at the Priestfield Stadium. Adrian Pennock's side are just one point above the relegation zone so they are in desperate need of three points this evening.

The only other goal in League One went Oxford's way and they lead Charlton 1-0 after 45 minutes. It's still goalless elsewhere.

  5. Yaya clarificationpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Manchester City 1-2 Monaco

I mentioned in that first half that Yaya Toure was booked for a foul - he wasn't.

Give Man City credit, they're showing they're willing to have a go and score goals. There's plenty more goals to come in the second half.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Manchester City 1-2 Monaco

Loud jeers aimed at referee Antonio Lahoz at the whistle. City could have had a penalty but what they do have is a deficit.

We are a quarter of the way through the tie and if the next three are half as good as that we are in for a classic.

  10. CLOSE!published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Manchester City 1-2 Monaco

Chance for Monaco now! All of a sudden Monaco are three on three, they work it well and send in Radamel Falcao on the left of the area, he goes for the near post and finds the side netting.

There's more goals in this. 4-4 I'm saying. City this time get through the lines but Kevin de Bruyne's effort is well blocked.

  12. Championship updatepublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

Huddersfield miss a golden opportunity to take the lead against Reading as Rajiv Van La Parra's spot kick is saved by Ali Al-Habsi. Liam Moore brought down Issy Brown to give away the penalty but it remains goalless with just under 10 minutes to go until half-time at the John Smith's Stadium.

Sheffield Wednesday also have a strong penalty shout dismissed against Brentford. Fernando Forestieri goes down under a challenge from Harlee Dean but it's waved away. Brentford lead 1-0.

Rambo: 'The new Henry' thats a compliment to Thierry. This kid looks some player.

David Ljunggren: Stones at fault yet again. Has there ever been a more calamitous big money signing of a defender?

Zeb Bowyer: City the definition of Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. 10 minutes of madness.

This guy has been electric so far. Remember his name. It's terrible, terrible defending and a great finish from the young player. Caballero can't do anything about it and you have to give the lad credit.

GOAL - Manchester City 1-2 Monacopublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Kylian Mbappe (40 mins)

What a game this is! Monaco lead but this is utter nonsense at the back for Manchester City. Monaco have a free-kick just inside the City half, it's one pass forwards which John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi fail to attack, and one punt forwards has Kylian Mbappe in on goal.

He takes a touch, steadies himself, and lashes into the top corner.

The new Henry? Maybe not. But impressive enough...

Stephan Whyte: The quality of everything in the knock out Champions League is top class, including the refs.

Joshua Dagnall: Seriously how many shocking penalty decisions are going to go against us City this year?

Hugh Rodger: Wow. No way was that a dive from Aguero - should've been a pen & red card. No wonder City fans boo the CL anthem

  18. Guardiola enraged as Man City concedepublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Manchester City 1-1 Monaco

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Pep Guardiola has not been a happy man - in fact he is so unhappy that one scream of frustration at some poor defensive work could be clearly heard way beyond his technical area.

So imagine his fury that goalkeeper Willy Caballero's poor distribution led to Monaco's equaliser. In fact, no need to imagine as it was easy to see.

And how was that not a penalty for Subasic's foul on Sergio Aguero? Manchester City are in the middle of a giant fume.

  19. YELLOW CARD - Sterling OUTpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Manchester City 1-1 Monaco

I've seen that Sergio Aguero penalty claim a few times and I don't see it as a dive. I tell you what though, Monaco are playing really, really well. They are pressing City from their own goal line and they can't get free at the moment.

Raheem Sterling was booked for his demonstrations and will miss the second leg.

  20. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

Another dreadful kick out from Willy Caballero leads to a foul from Yaya Toure in midfield. City keep passing to their keeper and he can't deal with it.
