• Mourinho keeps up a 100% winning record in English domestic finals.

But it is Zlatan Ibrahimovic's name which will be at the top of the headlines after the Swede scored twice, including a late winner, to give United victory over Southampton.

Southampton boss Claude Puel on Sky Sports:  "Congratulations to Manchester United. They were too clinical. But we proved we can play very well with many chances and opportunities.

"We came back with quality. Perhaps we deserve better. It's football and congratulations to Manchester and their players.

"Manolo Gabbiadini scored three good goals this afternoon (including the disallowed goal). There's a lot of disappointment of course.

"We had a fantastic game without the reward. I hope we can continue on this level."

It is Manchester United who are Walking Away with the trophy.

Man United boss Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: " I'm a bit emotional yes. It's not easy to win titles and so many times. It's not easy to cope with the pressure I put myself under.

"It was a game I was feeling the difficulty. I want to pay homage to Southampton and what they deserve. We have the cup in our hands and probably should be in extra time.

"Winning is always special. The day I don't get emotional when I win is the day to go home.

"Now we have one month in the Premier League and Rostov in the Europa League and Chelsea in the FA Cup and we have so much to play for.

"But today I could feel the difference between freshness in the teams - if we had gone to extra time we would have been in trouble."

Manchester United

Man United boss Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: “Honestly, Ibrahimovic won the game for us because he was outstanding. I can see a couple of performances - Pogba similar level - but he was outstanding. 

"In a match where the opponent was better than us for long periods - they deserved to go to extra time - he made the difference and he gave us the cup."

Just watching him be interviewed on the TV and Jose Mourinho is yet to crack a smile. He looks like someone has given him some really rubbish news. 

Apart from Ibrahimovic, I have to say the rest of the Manchester United players didn't play well today. 

If the rest of the team get on Zlatan's level then yes, Manchester United will do well next season.

Zlatan made all the difference. It was a stunning free kick. 

The way he used all of his experience - not just in his two goals but everywhere on the pitch, he deserves that Man of the Match trophy.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick on Sky Sports: "We weren't at our best. It was a terrific final. Sometimes teams cancel each other out but both teams went for it.

"Winning is all that matters in finals and hopefully this will kick us on.

"People keep asking questions of Zlatan - to play that number of games is an achievement - and he's scored no goal bigger than today.

"He's won us the cup. It's hard to explain how big it was. The FA Cup was big last year and today was a big one - we sensed it."

Southampton players weer shaking their heads as they walked up the steps as they wonder what could have been. 

I think they certainly had more energy than Manchester United for most of the match. 

They can feel very unlucky they are only collecting losers medals.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba have been interviewed together on Sky Sports.

Pogba: "It is very important for everyone. I'm very happy. That's why we bought him. To make the difference in important games."

Ibrahimovic on deciding to join United: "I got a call from Jose Mourinho - I have a good relationship with him and that's why I came. I know I made the right choice. I predicted what I would do.

"I came - that's special."
