    Middlesbrough 0-2 Manchester City

Manchester City were always going to win this, we knew that when we saw the team sheet. They had put the big boys on the pitch today.

Full credit to Middlesbrough, they are an honest, genuine side but were just lacking in a class finisher.

It was 2-0 but it could have been a lot, lot more.

I do fear for Middlesbrough. They have got to be more adveturous against teams in the bottom half - the ones you think, "they should beat them".

They are currently playing a counter attacking game and, apart from Traore, they don't have the legs  to get forward quickly.

It was never in doubt and it should have been more.

Manchester City cruise into the FA Cup semi-finals. Middlesbrough completely outclassed.

It's not all about the FA Cup, they need to survive in the Premier League too but Middlesbrough really couldn't have done much when City are in this form.

They have had a football lesson today.

No sign of any Middlesbrough fightback. This has been an easy day's work for Pep Guardiola's side.

Another Manchester City chance, another Brad Guzan save. This time Raheem Sterling is the man who is frustrated.

Moments later, Middlesbrough's Adam Clayton is lucky to get away with a horrible ankle high challenge on Sterling. Luckily for the England international, he is unhurt.

  9. CLOSE!published at 78 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Manchester City

Middlesbrough have a rare attempt and it comes because of the pace of Adama Traore. His cross eventually falls to Fabio who heads at goal. Claudio Bravo gets a hand to it, but the ball is still heading into the net before John Stones slides in to preserve's City clean sheet.

That would have set up an exciting finish, but as it remains, City have a two-goal advantage.

Middlesbrough should push up and have a go now.

They have nothing to lose - they may lose 4-0 but either way they are going out of the FA Cup so they should just give it a go.

  11. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Manchester City

What are Middlesbrough's defence doing? David Silva, who could have had a hat-trick, is fed by Raheem Sterling but is again denied by Brad Guzan.

Middlesbrough have been completely outclassed today. This could have easily have been five or six at least.

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Manchester City

City think they have got a third as Raheem Sterling finishes after Brad Guzan fumbled Sergio Aguero's 25-yard drive.

But luckily for Guzan the assistant's flag, maybe harshly, rules out the goal.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Manchester City

With a Wembley semi-final in the bag, Manchester City can afford to take off the excellent Leroy Sane.

Nolito comes on with Sane able to get some rest before the Champions League last-16 second leg tie in Monaco on Wednesday. City lead 5-3 on aggregate.

That is a fantastic goal from Manchester City. There was all of sudden an injection of pace.

Perfectly weighted - you don't have to hit people, hit space and that's what he does.

Brilliant goal and you have got to think this cup tie is over.

Leroy Sane has been man of the match for me.

It has been coming and Manchester City have a two-goal lead. Leroy Sane on the left is free to deliver a perfect low cross and Sergio Aguero steers the ball home past Brad Guzan from six yards out.

    Good goal. Game over.

Another fantastic save from the Middlesbrough goalkeeper. Brad Guzan this time frustrates Leroy Sane, whose 25-yard effort was heading into the bottom corner before Guzan intervened.

  18. GOOD SAVE!published at 66 mins

It is that man Brad Guzan to the rescue again. He is at full stretch, but gets down well to tip a low David Silva strike around the post.

Leroy Sane has been excellent today - his end product lets him down every now and again but he is a young lad and has a lot of talent.

I have to say though, I was expecting a little more from Raheem Sterling - he has been very, very quiet here today.
