AndyMac: Leicester would take that result all day long? Shakespeare showed his naivety as a coach but a 1-0 deficit isn't insurmountable.

Hishaam Habib: Leicester still have a fighting chance. Proved they could go toe to toe with Atlético away from home.

Andrew Johnson: Leicester proving you need a relaxed league campaign to do well in CL. So chill out, flirt with relegation and enjoy CL.

    Atletico Madrid 1-0 Leicester

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare, speaking to BT Sport: "I think 1-0, we would have taken that before the game. We came for an away goal but you saw how good a team Madrid are. The tie is still alive."

On the penalty: "I think it is a disappointing moment, a key moment. The referee has to get that one right. You can't guess. It is a definite free-kick but outside the box. Refs have a hard job but you want the key decisions correct.

On Robert Huth's booking, which bans him for the second leg: "We were always on the tightrope with people like Robert as he is competitive and it was a competitive game."

On their chances in the tie: "The message is that mentally and physically we have been in a game and have given a good account of ourselves. I have seen enough throughout the squad. We know what we are about at the King Power and know what we need to do."

    Atletico Madrid 1-0 Leicester

Difficult to see from this, but here is the game's defining moment at the Vicente Calderon - Albrighton's clumsy challenge (outside the box) and Griezmann's tumble, which ended inside the box.

Leicester fought like tigers, they blocked the two strikers and limited the chances to Griezmann and Torres, and a horrendous penalty decision has ultimately cost them.

I didn't think Leicester had a chance coming out here and I didn't expect this performance. But speaking to the supporters while I've been out here they believe they can do it and they're up and running and the dream is still alive.

    They were absolutely fantastic.

    Atletico Madrid 1-0 Leicester

Leicester midfielder Andy King, speaking to BT Sport: "To come here and still be in the game was the objective. We can take them back to ours and hopefully turn over the deficit, like the last tie.

"We know we are strong at home and I am sure we can cause them problems."

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, speaking to BT Sport: "It [the penalty] has ruined out game plan. It is tough to take when it is so clear. We should have had something from this but we have to accept it. They might have scored from what should have been a free-kick but it is easier to score from a penalty.

"A few yellows flying about. Robert Huth will be a big miss. he is a top-class defender."

    Atletico Madrid 1-0 Leicester

Leicester didn't manage a shot on target all game in the Vicente Calderon, but that wasn't really the purpose of tonight. They simply had to stay in the tie. They have done that. The King Power will be entirely different story.

Advantage Real. They will take a lead back to the Bernabeu. Bayern lost Javi Martínez to two yellows with the score at 1-1. The tie could well have gone with him.

They have seen it out. City will take this, thank you very much. Just the penalty that should not have been separates the two sides. We go to the King Power, where Leicester will believe they have a real chance of securing a spot in the semis.

Leicester, camped inside their own box, are just two minutes if injury time away from a really good result - one that keeps them firmly in this tie.

    Atletico Madrid 1-0 Leicester

Leicester hearts in mouths. Angel Correa collects the ball in the Leicester box, on the left, and jinks past two challenges before poking a low cross right along the face of goal. Fortunately for the visitors there is no home player there to finish it.
