Leicester finally give Atletico's defence something to think about with a series of crosses. The Madrid back-line are no mugs, though. They deal with some testing deliveries with aplomb.

Yohan Benalouane sticks out a crucial leg to cut out a cross from the byline as Atletico continue their hunt for the opener. Mahrez then wins a free-kick. Breathing space.

Leicester's first real period of possession gives them some respite from the constant Atletico attacks. It doesn't last long, though, as the home side hunt the ball down and win it.

Almost the breakthrough! Real Madrid turn it up a notch and when Toni Kroos bends in a deep cross from the right, Karim Benzema heads down and against the crossbar!

Atletico are not frightened to have a go. Saul unleashes a fierce shot from distance but it swerves over the bar. Craig Shakespeare is deep in discussions with his coaches, no doubt trying to figure out how to get hold of the ball for a bit. Still, they survived for 16 minutes, so it is not all bad.

Wave after wave after wave. Juanfran's cross causes chaos before Riyad Mahrez hacks the ball away from inside the box. All Leicester hands to the pump.

Atletico's Griezmann has a pop from range but it is always rising and drifts over the bar.

Soon after, Torres' shot from an angle takes a deflection, making the save an easy one for Kasper Schmeichel.

Leicester can't get hold of the ball.

The problem with having Borussia Dortmund v Monaco as your starter is that Munich's main course isn't going down too well.

It is attack versus defence in Madrid. Fernando Torres glances on with his head but Danny Simpson is covering and hammers the ball away.

Atletico come again, though, and Yannick Carrasco is denied a shot as he is muscled out of possession by the sheer number of blue-shirted players.

Another Atletico chance is missed. Robert Huth fails to get a full head on an attempted clearance from a cross and it falls for Yannick Carrasco to slice a volley wide from inside the box. 

Gareth Bale's first touch of the game is an artistic backheel which sends Luka Modric into space. Holders Real are coming into the game now after a Bayern barrage to open the night up.

It is all Atletico. Robert Huth concedes a corner, which Koke swings in and glances off the head of Diego Godin and away from danger.

Leicester are going to have to dig in deep. But they can't do that all night and expect to come away unscathed.

What a strike! Antoine Griezmann sets up Koke to hammer a long-range effort flush against the post. If Leicester needed an early warning, there it is.

Atletico are quickly out of the blocks and on the front foot. Wilfred Ndidi's first involvement is to do something he is likely to have to do a lot of tonight - tackle a man on the edge of the box. He does it well.

Leicester break, but Jamie Vardy is lacking company and his low cross flies across the face of goal.
