Steve Smith: Shame to lose Silva so early, but Sterling is a lot more dynamic.

That is a mis-timed challenged but I am not sure it is a yellow card.

It was not like Fernandinho was through on goal.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 25 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Raheem Sterling has come wide out to the right now, with Kevin de Bruyne moving more centrally. City are still bossing the game, at 65% of possession.

Alexis Sanchez is still defending deep in his own half and he's now booked for a lunge on Fernandinho. Think Son yesterday, just not in the area.

  4. SUBSTITUTION - Sterling for Silvapublished at 22 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

A shame for everyone bar Arsenal fans - David Silva has to hobble off and Raheem Sterling comes on. You'd have to think that that would rule Silva out of the Manchester derby as well.

  5. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 21 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Lovely from Mesut Ozil as he glides away from a rather static Vincent Kompany. David Silva has got a problem by the way - he's going to have to come off.

Laurent Koscielny volleys in from the free-kick, but he's clearly offside.

Arsenal are finding it difficult to get their big players into this game. They are having to do a lot of defending.

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Pep Guardiola is gesticulating at the referee after a nothing challenge in midfield is interpreted as a foul on Granit Xhaka.

Our fears that this game was never going to live up to yesterday's semi appear well founded at the moment.

Jesus Navas is getting all sorts of space down the Manchester City right but his cross can only find a distant Gael Clichy beyond the far post, and his shot on his right foot is, er, not the best.

Man City are set up to press as soon as the ball gets close to Olivier Giroud. They need a runner beyond him.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 14 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Good cover from Nacho Monreal as he snuffs out a dangerous header from Sergio Aguero. Arsenal then come down their right and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain finds Olivier Giroud, his header is straight at Claudio Bravo. An easy save, but a save from Bravo.

That is a good save! Petr Cech pushes David Silva's header over at the other end.

  11. Man City's sharper startpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 23 April 2017

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Manchester City enjoying most of the possession but Arsenal standing firm so far.

City manager Pep Guardiola has taken up permanent station in his technical area - just the occasional visit from his Arsenal opposite number Arsene Wenger so far.

Arsenal have a spell of possession for the first real time, Aaron Ramsey on the ball three or four times. It comes out to the left, Alexis Sanchez comes very wide and crosses but it's well defended at the front post.

Does this system get the best out of Sanchez though?

    Jermaine Jenas

It has been a good start from Manchester City's point of view.

Arsenal have hardly ventured into Manchester City's half. They have to find a way of getting runners beyond Olivier Giroud.

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Danger here! David Silva threads a lovely pass through the middle, Sergio Aguero seems to be in behind but Laurent Koscielny does really well to put a toe on the ball and put it out for a corner.

    Great last-ditch defending.

Gooner72: I have a feeling the change in formation is not tactical but rather Wenger showing us he can do something different. All bad.

John Davies: Let's hope Pep doesnt go for his regular stat gains and lose 1-0. Just get that ball in the mixer!

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Arsene Wenger is out into the technical area, shouting instructions to his players. "Get the ball!" would seem to be a start.

City have had 76% of possession.

Alexis Sanchez is fouled late by Fernandinho but again, Sanchez was no more than 30 yards from his own goal. Very, very deep.

  17. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Nicolas Otamendi is pinged for a silly foul on Mesut Ozil as Arsenal just about clear their lines. Alexis Sanchez is then forced back all the way to almost the left-back position as Jesus Navas motors up the touchline.

Arsenal won't want to see Sanchez back there too often.

The early signs for Arsenal are not good.

They are trying to play by allowing City to have the ball but they have to engage the City players when they come into that attacking third.

Hector Bellerin has had a Wembley haircut but yes, he is on the bench. He has been pretty poor of late, but got a great reception when he came on against Middlesbrough.

The first shot of the day comes from Kevin de Bruyne, who drags one wide from 25 yardsish.
