Depressing to note that, Just like Chelsea yesterday, the Man City starting XI doesn't contain a single British player. Meaning that if they meet in the final we might have the showcase English football event with a load of foreigners. I think I may go shopping that day!

'A load of foreigners', or some of the world's best players?

Gabriel Jesus was not quite ready to return for Manchester City today so Pep Guardiola names an unchanged XI for the first time.

Yaya Toure has scored a good few Wembley goals for City over the years, and he starts in midfield.

I watched City playing Chelsea and Spurs at the Etihad and I don't know how they didn't win those two games. They just couldn't get the ball into the back of the net.

Pep will look at Gabriel and Holding today and just try and do the same and attack them.

After 20 years without a back three, Arsenal stick with the system at Wembley.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was excellent as a wing-back against Middlesbrough, but will he fancy tracking Leroy Sane?

    We shall see.

Pep Guardiola has probably learnt more in this one season at Manchester City than he has learned in his career because the Premier League is a beast. To finish in the top-four is probably a bigger achievement than we give credit for.

Will the often-criticised Chilean come up trumps today?

    • The Gunners come into this game on the back of just five wins in their last 13 games in all competitions (D1 L7), with two of those victories coming against non-league sides (Sutton Utd and Lincoln City).

Arsene Wenger will know victory in today's FA Cup semi-final will make Arsenal's fans feel a lot better about the idea of him extending his time as manager.

And he sticks with the three-man defensive system used in victory at Middlesbrough with Gabriel, Laurent Koscielny and Rob Holding given the task of keeping out Manchester City's multi-talented attack.

City captain Vincent Kompany gets the chance to make up for the long months of injury frustration as he starts, while Claudio Bravo gets the nod over Willy Caballero in goal.

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

Arsene Wenger insists that cup progress has no bearing on his Arsenal future - but goodness me he needs to win this game.

With the usual top-four finish an outside bet, a place in the final might just delay some of the more sanguine Gunners fans from joining the growing list of 'Wexiteers'.

Another failure would bring their frustrations to fever pitch.

In his own way - still 'starting out' in England - Pep Guardiola needs it even more. The first trophy he brings City can't come soon enough, and he's treated the competition with due reverence from the beginning.

Both clubs, their bosses and their fans really want this. City are favourites - but only just.

Former Arsenal and England defender Matt Upson: "If you look at the English players at Spurs and Arsenal there is a huge difference in what contribution they are giving at the club.

"The English players are not contributing and leading Arsenal compared to the Tottenham players.

"You know what you are getting from Tottenham players every week. For Arsenal to move forward that group of players needs to lift them every week."

The double is definitely on for Chelsea, which would be an incredible achievement.

Kenny Dalglish (with Liverpool in 1986) and Carlo Ancelotti (with Chelsea in 2010) are the only other managers to have done it in their first season in England, and now Antonio Conte has a fantastic chance of doing the same.

If Vincent Kompany plays it is a totally different Manchester City. With the pace they have at their disposal, Sane, Sterling and De Bruyne, I am leaning more to Manchester City right now.

Blimey. This doesn't happen very often.

Both teams are unchanged from wins at Middlesbrough and Southampton respectively.

That means Arsenal play 3-4-3 and City 4-2-3-1, with Jesus Navas and Vicnent Kompany in the back four.

    Full line-ups to come.

This is a game where Arsenal could be taken to the cleaners if they are not set up correctly. Crucially, the Gunners need to dominate midfield.

Arsenal's switch to play with three at the back in their win at Middlesbrough on Monday felt like a last throw of the dice by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Wenger's side have been so ordinary for so long, and I just think City will have too much for them.

    Prediction: 0-2

Would an FA Cup mean a successful first season for Pep Guardiola?

I'm pretty sure a decision has been made on Arsene Wenger's future but it would make conversations a lot easier if he wins it. If he wins the trophy then it makes the announcement far smoother and far sweeter.

  20. 20 up for the Gunners?published at 13:43 British Summer Time 23 April 2017

Arsenal v Manchester City (15:00 BST)

Arsenal are aiming to reach a record 20th final, while City are after number 11.

Nobody has won more FA Cups than Arsenal's 12, with City's haul of five putting them level with West Brom, Everton and Wanderers.

Not Boton or Wolves. Just Wanderers.

    Big in the 1870s.
