Celtic march on at the top, opening up a 14-point lead in the Premiership title race - or is it more of a stroll for Brendan Rodgers' side?

"All credit to our players, they put in a real shift and gave Celtic a scare. We rode our luck at times but we're disappointed to lose a goal from a set-piece.

"We're creating chances but we need to make them count. It's something we need to keep working on.

"We've still got belief in the dressing room and we have a good run of games coming up. We need to start picking up points."

Brendan Rodgers explained that he gave Calvin Miller his debut against Partick Thistle specifically because he would be facing a very strong physical opponent in David Amoo - as it would show him "where he is at" in the 18-year-old's development.

"I think in parts it was good. When you fail to take your chances and it stays at 1-0, it always gets a bit hairy at the end.

"In the first half, our pressing and intensity was not good enough. But it was better in the seond half.

"Partick Thistle are a good side and I don't know how they are at the bottom of the league. They have plenty of energy.

"We made changes because it is a long season. We are blooding young players - I thought young Calvin did very well on his debut - so to come out of it with three points by showing the mentality to come out on top at the end was very pleasing."

Thistle will need to recover quickly since they are off to Dingwall to meet Ross County on Friday.

"That's as good a performance as I've seen from a team against Celtic this season. Thistle had a good balance about them and Ryan Edwards has just got incredible energy. They don't look like a bottom of the league team."

That's three single-goal home wins on the trot for Brendan Rodgers side, who were scoring for fun earlier in the season.

Tomas Cerny did make a few good saves in the second half to keep the Jags in it but Celtic never got near top gear.

The manager has been making a lot of team changes from game to game and that might explain the lack of fluency. 

Fairytale of New York is playing at Celtic Park the moment after referee Euan Anderson sounds the final whistle but, unlike the song, this game was no classic.

Celtic were nowhere near their best but they keep piling up the wins. That's 12 league victories in a row and a very healthy 14-point lead at the top.

Thistle had some good openings but could not make them count. They remain bottom of the Premiership pile after Scott Sinclair's first-half strike.

Now Danny Devine is up in attack, with the big Jags defender making a horrible mess of a very ambitious long-range effort when another cross into the penalty area may have been the smarter approach.

Ziggy Gordon launches a long free kick into the Celtic box and the hosts repel it without any fuss. Is that it for Thistle?

Stuart Armstrong glides forward and sends a curling shot on target but Thistle keeper Tomas Cerny is equal to it, with another fine diving stop.

Thistle also shuffle things around as Adam Barton takes over from Sean Welsh.

Thistle break and another very good chance is squandered as Callum Booth delivers a wonderful cross for Chris Erskine, who swings - and misses - from eight yards. A tad embarrassing. The ball breaks to Sean Welsh and all he can do is send a tame shot straight at Craig Gordon.

Tomas Cerny is having a good night now after copping flak for the goal. This time he gets fingertips to a powerful Moussa Dembele strike.
