Christian Vieri may be torn tonight. He of course spent a season at Juventus in 1996-97 and had a spell at Monaco in 2005-06.

The 43-year-old was of course one of Europe's most-feared strikers during his time at Inter Milan. His move to Inter made him the most expensive player on earth at the time. Now he just poses and looks cool for photographs instead. Today's looks is somewhere between Top Gun and Tiger Woods.

Juventus seem to have the beating of Djibril Sidibe down Monaco's left at the moment. He's been beaten by both Dani Alves and Gonzalo Higuain, the latter squeezing a cross over the fullback's outstretched leg but straight into Danijel Subasic's hands.

They look nervous on the ball with Monaco suddenly quick to close the man in possession down. The latest bit of pressing sees Claudio Marchisio lash the ball out of play as a red and white shirt charges in on him.

Alessandro Del Piero won this competition in 1996 and tasted defeat in the final three times.

Kylian Mbappe's early chances and that Radamel Falcao effort did come against the general flow of play in the first 19 minutes. Juventus are seeing much more of the ball, with most of the attacking play on show coming in the home sides' final third.

Monaco have soaked up the pressure and are now the better side with Kylian Mbappe proving a particular thorn in Juventus' side. 

The teenager twists and turns his way on the right side of the box, wriggles into the area but his cutback is cleared.

Then, a cushioned Radamel Falcao header is touched behind by Gianluigi Buffon.

It takes a formidable attack to make this Juventus defence look shaky. That's exactly what Monaco are doing right now.

OnsideView: Buffon still surely has to be one of the best, if the best, goalkeepers in the game.  

Monaco have really come to life now and have another golden chance via that man Kylian Mbappe. 

Nabil Dirar plays a superb ball from the right behind the defence and Mbappe stretches out a boot but his shot at the near post is blocked by Gianluigi Buffon.

The hosts, as ever, look dangerous when attacking.

Big chance!

Monaco, with pretty much their first attack, should score as a ball over the Juventus defence finds Kylian Mbappe totally unmarked. He heads at goal, but straight at Gianluigi Buffon.

Juventus slice through the Monaco defence as Dani Alves volleys a first-time ball across the face of goal for Gonzalo Higuain. It is just above the striker's head, and Alves was offside anyway, but still a concern for Monaco how easily Juventus are getting through them.

Oooh that should have been a chance. 

Juventus pounce on a mistake by Monaco to win the ball in the middle of the park. Paulo Dybala finds Gonzalo Higuain but the striker slips at the crucial moment.

Now Monaco win a corner, Thomas Lemar swings it in but Juventus head away. 

Approaching the 10 minute mark with no chances for either side yet.

Alex Sandro wins Juventus an early corner after good link-up play between Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic. The corner is cleared but Juventus pick up the ball and start another attack.

Juventus' defence did a Gandalf on Barcelona in the quarter-finals, not letting the Spanish side get past at all. Keeping Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez et al quiet just shows the size of the task Monaco face.

As is to be expected it is a very tentative start, neither side giving the other an inch although Juventus are seeing more of the ball.
