So what's at stake for these two sides, both in Europe and domestically?

Monaco are on course for a first French league title since 2000, and will match their achievement of reaching the 2004 Champions League final if they are victorious over two legs against Juve.

Juventus themselves are nine points clear at the top of Serie A - which they have won for the past five years - and are hoping for a second final appearance in three years.

Who is the biggest player never to win the Champions League?

William Darling: My favourite ever player, Dennis Bergkamp, a whole cabinet of cups, but no Champions League

John McEnerny: Ruud Van Nistlerooy one of the greatest 9's in CL history!

Ian Coverdale: The original Ronaldo is the best player to never win CL. Simple as.

Whoever wins this tie will most likely face Real Madrid in the final after a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick gave the Spanish side a 3-0 first-leg lead over Atletico Madrid.

In 10 Champions League matches this season, Juventus have conceded just two goals. Yes, tonight they will face the threats of Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao but it's safe to say between the likes of Gianluigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, the Old Lady have plenty of defensive experience.

"But I think over the two matches, 180 minutes, experience will play into our hands," Buffon said this week.

There's some European football going on right now with Ajax seemingly powering their way into the Europa League final.

Fascinating fact - Francesco Totti is the only player still playing football at a professional level that featured in Fifa 96.

The only other player who featured in that game and is still playing today is Jamie Cureton. The 41-year-old now turns out for Farnborough.

  16. Totti to retirepublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 3 May 2017

On the subject of football's elder statesmen, a day I never thought would arrive has actually arrived, with Francesco Totti announcing today that he will retire at the end of the season.

The 40-year-old Roma forward and club captain has scored 307 goals in 783 appearances since making his debut 24 years ago.

The very definition of a one-club man, Totti will become a director at Roma once he hangs up his boots.

    What a player.

  17. Paulo Dybala - the new Kyle Lafferty?published at 19:07 British Summer Time 3 May 2017

    Monaco v Juventus (19:45 BST)

And to think Paulo Dybala was taught everything he knows by Kyle Lafferty.

Maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but Northern Ireland striker Lafferty did once outscore Dybala when the two played alongside each other at Palermo.

The two were striker partners for the Italian side during the 2013-14 season, with Lafferty scoring 12 goals to Dybala's five.

"He is from the same country as Messi and in time Paulo will take over from both him and Ronaldo," Lafferty said in the Daily Mail., external "Not only has he all the football ability, he also has a strong mentality. He is already being likened to Messi but he will want to be his own man."

The way I've been talking so far you would think Juventus don't have a player under the age of 30.

The Italian side does, of course, have its own exciting youngster - Paulo Dybala.

The 23-year-old - dubbed by some as the next Messi - has scored 13 goals this season, including four in the Champions League.

His skill on the ball prompted Dybala's former Juventus team-mate Paul Pogba to give him an unusual nickname.

“I call Dybala ‘Square R2’,” said Pogba., external “That’s the combination you press on PlayStation to do a turn and shot. He always scores like that.”
