Former Manchester City player Paul Lake on BBC Radio Manchester: “There has been lots of pressure from Manchester City, a really high press, and Spurs are struggling to deal with it."

Gael Clichy closing down Kyle Walker deep in the Spurs half. They're not letting the home side settle at all.

Guardiola and Pochettino are pacing up and down the touchline in harmonic step as the ball going back and forth.

I say back and forth, it's all City. Spurs have barely had a taste, and are still to have a shot.

David Silva had options out wide but goes for the shot and is only denied by a brilliant low stop by Hugo Lloris, plunging right down into his left-hand bottom corner to tip round the post.

From the corner, Pablo Zabaleta fires through a crowd just wide of Lloris' opposite post - this time the Frenchman was rooted to the spot. The closest we've come to a goal.

But Spurs can't hold on to it in the middle. Dele Alli is the latest to turn it over, swamped by City pressure.

The home side are methodically probing for weakness. They've got all the possession they want as Claudio Bravo shows he's not short of confidence with a feigned clearance.

Owch. Leroy Sane catches Kyle Walker with a late hanging boot, studs on ankle action. No card from the ref but Spurs do have a free-kick. That relieves the pressure.

Lucky not to get a yellow there.

"Spurs have their work cut out."

Manchester City have made a seriously lively opening here, putting Spurs under real pressure. They have opened up like a side wanting to heal the wounds of that heavy beating at Everton.

  9. CLOSE!published at 13 mins

Now Eric Dier goes in the book. Two yellows in as many minutes for Spurs.

Kevin de Bruyne loops in the free-kick from deep, Nicolas Otamendi is in acres of space but his cut-back is poor and Spurs again have to scramble the ball clear.

    Real City pressure.

    Lovely move from City.

David Silva fires a pass into Sergio Aguero, a neat lay-off to Kevin de Bruyne, who pokes the ball through Spurs' back line, but Pablo Zabaleta is crowded out by Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs survive. But as the ball comes back, Kevin Wimmer is penalised for a hold on Zabaleta. Yellow card.

Excellent tracking from Danny Rose on Raheem Sterling who had burst into the box. One-touch passing between Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne had set the England winger free, but Rose stuck to his task and, crucially, stayed on his feet to push Sterling away from goal.

As City work it back from the touchline, Leroy Sane's cross is poor. Goal kick Spurs, and pressure off. For now.

Kyle Walker closes Gael Clichy down with a sliding challenge in the far corner as City patiently build up the pitch.

Nicolas Otamendi does little to endear himself as he booms a wayward shot off and away into the back of beyond.

Spurs v City should be interesting - Spurs copying Chelsea's formation and Pep deciding not too bother with a midfield to protect his wobbly defence and just to go on all out attack!

Spurs perhaps the better starters here. Danny Rose darts into space down the left and flicks in a dangerous cross which is deflected away to the back stick.

Pablo Zabaleta looked sluggish in that challenge on Rose. Spurs are looking breezy.

If you're wondering what the record's like between Poch and Pep, the Spurs manager also got the better of City's boss when Espanyol beat Barcelona 2-1 at the Nou Camp in 2009. Just saying.

Hugo Lloris gets an early touch as a City long ball bounces coolly into his way.
