    Crystal Palace 0-0 Sunderland

Sam Allardyce is in a chipper mood. He's just been throwing some shapes with the Crystal Palace mascot before taking his seat in the dugout.

It's a massive game for both sides and it's been a cagey start to the game. No chances for either side, although Vito Mannone has just plucked the ball out of the air following a Palace corner.

    Everton 1-0 Bournemouth

Looking again, Bournemouth created problems for themselves by failing to clear the ball. Everton pinched it, Lukaku was fed by James McCarthy and then unleashed that delightful finish. Watch it on MOTD.

Romelu Lukaku dances through the Bournemouth defence and curls a delicious finish inside the left-hand post from edge of the 18-yard box. The Cherries are behind without getting from the dressing room.

Hull City v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

I've got my eye on goings on at Hull City and as the camera pans the stands there are plenty of nervous faces in both the home and away ends. This is a big game for both clubs. If Hull lose then they could find themselves cut further adrift from safety while failure to take all three points for Liverpool will surely end their slim title hopes.

    EFL preview

According to one fan, Leyton Orient are a “dead club walking.”

New boss Danny Webb is their fourth manager of the season, and their 10th since 2014

His first game in charge is against Carlisle United, who are third in the league but without a win since 31 December.

Doncaster are already seven points clear at the top and will hope to extend their lead with a win over Morecambe.

Bottom club Newport signed 13 new players in January, and will hope they can make an impact today against fellow strugglers Cheltenham.

Bristol Rovers begin life without top-scorer Matty Taylor after his move to their bitter rivals Bristol City. Rovers travel to Rochdale who are looking to cement their place in the play-offs.

League One leaders Scunthorpe make the trip to Southend, whilst at the other end of the table struggling Coventry host Millwall.

The Sky Blues could hand a debut to striker Michael Folivi, who joined fromWatford until the end of the season.

With Brighton not playing until Sunday, a win over Derby will see Newcastle return to the top of the Championship. Steve McClaren returns to his former club with his Derby County side who are looking to close in on a place in the play-offs.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa travel to Nottingham Forest. There will be no debut for Ross McCormack after his loan move from Villa to Forest. Both he and Aaron Tshibola are unable to face their parent club.

At the bottom end, Blackburn host QPR and Rotherham travel to Bristol City.

Last weekend, a lifelong Watford fan I know was convinced that the Hornets were heading for relegation after taking just three points from their previous seven league fixtures.

However, the win at Arsenal on Tuesday might prove to be a turning point for Watford's season.

We all know about Burnley's form - they are in a Champions League place when it comes to home fixtures, but are bottom of the table for away matches.

Their solitary point away from Turf Moor came at Manchester United at the end of October. They will add to that tally sometime, and I fancy it may well be this Saturday.

  13. Zarate given Watford debutpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Watford v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

Watford give a debut to former Birmingham and West Ham striker Mauro Zarate, signed from Fiorentina during the transfer window. He replaces Daryl Janmaat, while left-back Jose Holebas - the first man in the Premier League to 10 bookings this season - returns from his two-match ban to take over from Miguel Britos.

Watford: Gomes; Cathcart, Kaboul, Prodl, Holebas; Capoue, Behrami, Cleverley; Zarate, Deeney, Niang. Subs: Arlauskis, Britos, Janmaat, Watson, Doucoure, Success, Okaka.

New signings Robbie Brady and Ashley Westwood are on the bench today, while Sam Vokes' midweek winner against Leicester - having come on as a substitute - is not enough to force him into the starting line-up. Steven Defour, who came off with a hamstring injury on Tuesday, is unfit, so Scott Arfield starts.

Burnley: Heaton; Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward; Boyd, Hendrick, Barton, Arfield; Barnes, Gray. Subs: Robinson, Flanagan, Tarkowski, Westwood, Gudmundsson, Brady, Vokes.

This is a real bona fide six-pointer - with a couple of tasty sub-plots thrown in for good measure.

As with Palace now, Sam Allardyce also found Sunderland in the relegation zone on 19 points from 23 games last season.

He pointed to his January signings as the catalyst behind getting them out of trouble and he's expecting a big impact from his new recruits this time around too.

Patrick van Aanholt's reunion with Allardyce gave David Moyes the funds to bring in some more of his Everton old boys, but the failure to sign a striker could prove costly.

Jermain Defoe, Van Aanholt and long-term injury absentee Victor Anichebe have scored all but two of Sunderland's Premier League goals this season.

Crystal Palace v Sunderland (15:00 GMT)

There's a reunion theme to this one - Sam Allardyce takes on his former side and hands Patrick van Aanholt his home debut against the club he left in the January transfer window.

Palace are unchanged from the side who beat Bournemouth 2-0 last time out, but on-loan defender Mamadou Sakho comes onto the bench.

Crystal Palace XI: Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Tomkins, Delaney, Van Aanholt, Cabaye, McArthur, Puncheon, Zaha, Benteke.

Subs: Speroni, Fryers, Sakho, Ledley, Flamini, Townsend, Remy.

    Palace

David Moyes makes two changes to the side who held Spurs 0-0 in the week, with a debut for Bryan Oviedo and Adnan Januzaj also coming in for Javier Manquillo and Fabio Borini respectively.

Jack Rodwell starts his 38th Premier League game for Sunderland - will he go the equivalent of a full season without winning?

Sunderland XI: Mannone, Jones, Oviedo, O'Shea, Kone, Denayer, Ndong, Larsson, Rodwell, Januzaj, Defoe.

Subs: Mika, Borini, Lescott, Pienaar, Khazri, Manquillo, Gibson.

Both these clubs have given themselves a terrific foundation for a successful season. They are separated by only four points and have managers who continue to get the best out of their players.

That was certainly the case for Tony Pulis when he witnessed Saido Berahino score 20 goals in a season for West Brom. Berahino then became one of his more challenging individual cases, and Pulis will be hoping the striker isn't making any headlines on his instant return to the Midlands.

Mark Hughes, who finally got his man, will hope Berahino can help his team surpass expectations in the long term.

In the shorter term, he'll pray Peter Crouch's renaissance of four goals in five games continues.

  17. Berahino on bench for Stokepublished at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

West Brom v Stoke (15:00 BST)

Jake Livermore makes his full debut for West Brom after joining them from Hull for £10m. He's the only change to Tony Pulis' side, with captain Darren Fletcher making his 300th Premier League appearance.

West Brom: Foster, Nyom, Dawson, McAuley, Brunt, Fletcher, Livermore, Chadli, Morrison, Phillips, Rondon.

Stoke are unchanged, giving Saido Berahino some more time to get used to the Hawthorns' away dressing room. The former West Brom striker, who switched to Stoke for £12m in January, is on the bench.

Stoke: Grant, Bardsley, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Whelan, Adam, Afellay, Allen, Arnautovic, Crouch.

A disappointing FA Cup exit aside, 2017 is going rather nicely for Everton - three wins (including the thrashing of Manchester City), one draw and only one goal conceded.

So Bournemouth will travel to Goodison Park with no great expectation that they'll end their record of having lost every game they've ever played there.

When you consider that they've only played at Everton three times that is not actually as bad as it sounds - but another loss would be no surprise.

Eddie Howe's nagging worries about his defence have turned into great clanging alarm bells. They are letting in more than one goal per half on average over the last 11 league games.

With no new faces acquired, a much-needed lift will have to come from within.
