"Marco Silva was a left-field appointment, and then Hull started to sell some of their best players. But the manager has come in and freshened things up, and the players have clearly bought into his new approach and feel energised."

  2. 'We have to respond to disappointing results'published at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2017

    Arsenal v Hull (12:30 GMT)

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on Sky Sports: "Kieran Gibbs is suited to playing against Grosicki. He is in good shape there is a battle between the two (Monreal and Gibbs).

"We made the decision on Bellerin yesterday after training. He had a test. We haven't seen him in training, yesterday was the first time."

"The mood is positive. We have to respond to disappointing results.

"We want the crowd behind us but let's be honest that has to come from our dynamism, commitment and desire. If we show that the crowd will be behind us.

"I am very upbeat. I love to win and the next game is always an opportunity to win the game."

    Danny Mills
Ex-Man City defender on Football Focus

"Nobody above Arsene Wenger at Arsenal has ever sacked or appointed a manager. Wenger basically deisgned the ground and runs the club top to bottom. As long as the Gunners keep finishing fourth then he's safe and happy.

"And lets not forget how successful Arsene Wenger has been - he's played a huge part in the development of English football. But of course everyone has a shelf life."

  4. 'Twenty years is a long time at the top'published at 12:21 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2017

    Arsenal v Hull (12:30 GMT)

    David Pleat
Former Spurs boss at Emirates Stadium for 5 live Sport

"I can't tell with Arsene Wenger whether this is likely to be his final season.

"At this stage of the season all managers are tired. But I do feel that this is an interesting time for the Gunners with supporters expecting success.

"Twenty years is a long time at the top, and though people say it's up to him when he goes I simply don't believe that. He is an employee of Arsenal's and if they decide it's time to go then he will sit down with the owners at the end of the season and negotiate a dignified exit."

  5. 'Wenger won't let go lightly'published at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2017

    Arsenal v Hull (12:30 GMT)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

"Ian Wright is a reasonably good judge of where Arsene Wenger is. If Arsenal do exit the FA Cup and don't make it into the Champions League then there's only one way for Arsene Wenger to go, and that's out of the club.

"When Wenger goes is a huge decision for the football club. Wenger won't let go lightly, but all great leaders know when it's time to leave."

Arsene Wenger has just been speaking. The interviewer didn't ask about his future - probably wise. Leave that one for full-time.

He says he's upbeat (Arsene, not the bloke asking the questions).

Arsene Wenger and I were talking about the stadium move and it was fascinating what he had to go through. He knew that he had to be in the Champions League every season. He was losing players.

I wanted to say 'don't you feel angry and aggrieved?'

It was a time when he could have left to join any club in the world and he stayed knowing that he wasn't able to sign the players he wanted and still had to get into the Champions League.

Bishop Yinkus: Win or lose today it won't change my already made up mind that the glory days will not return to Emirates until Arsene leaves.

Jose King'ori: Careful what you wish for, Arsenal fans. Look at Man Utd post-Ferguson, missing out on the Champions League two times.

    It's snowing!

White stuff falling in north London. The home fans look concerned, pulling on another cashmere sweater and mumbling that they knew they should have packed the battery-powered thermals.

Hull fans remove a layer. They knew it was warm enough for flip flops.

What have we learned? Don't trust Ian Wright to keep a secret.

Things you can't tell Ian Wright about include...

    • Your bank account details
    • That ex who has contacted you on Facebook
    • The time you scratched your dad's car and blamed it on the next-door neighbour
    • That rash that just won't go away

I mean, Arsene Wenger can't be too pleased that his conversation with the former Gunners striker has ended up all over the media, can he?

There they were, enjoying a glass of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and Arsene mentions he might have had enough.

Next thing you know, Wrighty has told the world.

Cancel that suggestion that there's no snow at the Emirates because the white stuff is falling now.

You can get some incredible odds on Hull winning at Arsenal but it might not be as crazy as some people think.

Marco Silva knows how to get a win there. His only previous visit was as Olympiakos boss last season. His side won 3-2...

Arsenal make just the one change from their comprehensive defeat at Chelsea last time out. Hector Bellerin, who was whacked in the head and had to come off, keeps his place while Kieran Gibbs replaces Nacho Monreal at left-back.

No snow at the Emirates but it is cold and it is wet.

After back-to-back defeats, Arsenal need to win and win convincingly.

Would a big win against Hull get Arsene Wenger's detractors back on side?

Arsenal v Hull City (12:30 GMT)

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal striker on 5 live

Arsenal are in a real situation. The fans are ready to go, they are sharpening the pitchforks. I was with the boss last night and if I am being totally honest, I am getting the impression that this is it. I get the impression that that's it.

He actually mentioned that he is coming to the end. I have never heard him say that before. He looks tired. You just feel that he looks winded. I feel that he will go at the end of the season.
