  2. 'Mightily frustrating'published at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

    Liverpool 2-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, speaking to BBC Sport:  "We went about the game well, there are a lot of positives to take but it still hurts. We started well and scored first but conceded at a bad time and then unfortunately one of their only shots on target went in.

"As he [Emre Can] shaped to hit it Ben Mee and Sadio Mane were just in my line of vision so I was a bit delayed getting down to it and I'm mightily frustrated but we created a few half chances at the end and could have come away with something.

"Overall the performances away from home have been much better. At the start of the season they were below our standards, but we are giving everything we can to get three points away from home."

  3. 'Tough to take'published at 18:20 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

Burnley manager Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's a tough one to take, because everyone gave a really good account of ourselves and went up with a sublime goal, but it's a tough place to come. Their first was a soft one to concede before half-time, and the second one we're disappointed with but we gave a really good account of ourselves. We just needed a scratch of luck along the way.

"Our defence was good, they scored with their first effort on target. Barnes had a good chance to score an equaliser and Lowton too. We wanted to put them under pressure in their box, we did that with playing some good football too but we know we haven't won away and we want to correct that. It's not easy when you've got question marks over you but there were clean minds and strength of character today, we have to continue that way."

Ashley Barnes (10) is now just one goal short of tying with Danny Ings (11) for the most Premier League goals for Burnley.

Danny Ings is of course a Liverpool player these days - though injury has restricted him to three Premier League starts for the Reds in two seasons.

  5. 'Not the most memorable game'published at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

    Liverpool 2-1 Burnley

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp:  "Burnley were always in the game, it was intense and we had to fight. We had some moments, it was not only luck that we scored before half-time and it was a wonderful goal from Emre Can.

"It is clear we have to do a few things better. We were not at our absolute best but we fought. I liked it, it is this kind of game we haven't won until now. It feels kind of strange a little bit. Not the most memorable game but a very nice three points."

  6. 'A massive three points'published at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "The performance was good enough to win the game but the result is massive for us, it's the first ugly game we have won.

"Usually when we are not that good we lose. I said before the game that Burnley are the most consistent team in style; they play what they play. They fight for the second balls, long balls, but Simon Mignolet came out for us which was so important."

  7. 'An important win'published at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

    Liverpool 2-1 Burnley

    Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can speaking to Sky Sports:  "It was a really important win and we are happy to get the three points.

"Second half we played better but they were good in the air and were dangerous.

"I don't score too much so it is good but it's the three points that matter".

  8. 'We were also lucky'published at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

Liverpool midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum:   "It was difficult in the beginning especially because they scored a goal in the first few minutes, but we just tried to fight and do everything to win the game.

"We were better in the second half but we were also a bit lucky; previous games we played like this we lost, but then we didn't have the fighting spirit. At this stage of the season it's better to collect points no matter how. We did it before against the bigger teams and we will try to do it again."

  9. 'We were in control'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2017

    Liverpool 2-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes, speaking to Sky Sports: "To come away with a loss is disappointing because we were in control in the first half, they didn’t create much. Conceding on half-time was a bug-bear but our performance was good.

"Our gameplan worked, but unfortunately we’ve come away with a loss. We need to take the positives and the negatives what to work on in the week. We will dust ourselves down and go again."

Michael Keane dominated both penalty areas at Anfield. Everton were among the clubs linked with him in January - can the Clarets keep the centre-half through the summer?

Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed with that performance but it's all about the result. They are now five points clear of Arsenal.

That is an enormous result. They were desperately poor and Burnley will wonder how they didn't get a thing out of this.

They were brilliantly organised. I thought first half they bullied the Liverpool centre halves. They will want another couple of wins and their home form will probably see them home and dry.

Amongst the criticism levelled at Liverpool, some praise.

That's the fourth time this season that Jurgen Klopp's side have come from behind to win a Premier League match. The most by any team in the division.

Liverpool rather got away with one there. For the first 45 minutes they were all over the shop. That goal right on half time was a massive turning point.

When will Burnley win away from home?

Burnley windmill a long throw into the area, it's flicked on, headed out flicked back on again to Matt Lowton beyond the far post, the bounce takes it to an awkward height - and he slashes over the top!

A huge - if not easy - chance!

Mane should have put the game to bed there.

Clever ball but it's a decent save from Heaton.
