    That could change everything!

Jurgen Klopp said in his pre-match briefing that he has got a Plan B. Let's see.

Tom Heaton has to make his first save but it's from a Joey Barton header back to him. Easy enough.

Jurgen Klopp has no 'plan B' - he only has one way of playing. I think they have all been so poor.

The Burnley midfield are all over this Liverpool side.

Groans of discontent inside the famous old stadium as yet another pass goes astray. Still no shot on target, in fact the sole effort from Liverpool was a wild swinger from 25 yards from Gini Wijnaldum which was closer to Goodison than the goal.

Torrid, turgid, terrible. Take your pick. Liverpool have been as poor as I've seen from them in a long, long time in this first half.

A wry smile from Jurgen Klopp there - not sure why. Nothing to smile about.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 37 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Burnley

Scott Arfield, working his socks off, strips the ball from Sadio Mane and then thinks he is fouled on the touchline. Play goes on, Adam Lallana does a lovely little Cruyff turn which entices Ben Mee into a hack in his shins and Mee goes in the book.

Liverpool waste the free-kick though as Gini Wijnaldum lashes a shot miles over.

    Liverpool 0-1 Burnley

Excellent tackle from Michael Keane on halfway to prevent a dangerous looking counter attack as the man linked with a big move away from Turf Moor shines once again.

Burnley haven't led at half time away from home in the Premier League since May 2015 (v Aston Villa).

    Too soon?

The rain is falling hard at Anfield now as Liverpool win yet another corner - that's six already for the hosts. They don't look like winning a header though in either box. Michael Keane is having a field day.

Is one of the Liverpool centre-halves going to win a header at all today?

Tom Heaton has a rare touch but it's a clearance, not a save. James Milner then sees a cross blocked for a corner as Liverpool put some play together.

Ali-Reza Panjwani:  Absolutely inexcusable. 1 week to prepare for this game. Coming off the result vs Arsenal - we should be ALL over Burnley.

Steve Best  This is depressingly familiar

Ar vind  Klopp must put his hand up and admit he should have strengthened the defence in January.

  13. CLOSE!published at 26 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Burnley

Burnley haven't re-invented the wheel, they have a big man and a liitle man up front, but it's enough to fox the Liverpool defence.

Ashley Barnes nods on a long throw, Andre Gray pins Joel Matip and swivels on him before firing a rising shot over the top.

    Groans from the Kop.

Liverpool force another corner as Ben Mee heads out a teasing free-kick. The Reds are seeing lots of the ball but haven't asked any question at all of Clarets keeper Tom Heaton.

Divock Origi has barely touched the ball but to be fair to the guy, the service up to him has been absolutely appalling.

Ragnar Klavan has no idea where Ashley Barnes is as the Clarets striker volleys narrowly wide after another excellent early cross in from the full-backs.

Barnes was a yard offside - but the Reds defence didn't know that. All at sea at the heart of that defence. Anyone got Sami Hyypia's number?

Sadio Mane again does well to force a corner with some elusive running down the right, he's about the only Liverpool player who looks on it so far.

The Reds still to have an effort on goal. Tepid opening 20 minutes.

Liverpool are so sloppy in the middle of the park - they have not got their passing game right and they are WAY off the pace.

More clumsiness from Emre Can as he crunches into George Boyd. Quite simply Burnley's midfield are out working and out pressing their opponents in these opening stages.

I expected Liverpool to start much, much faster today.

You have to give credit to Burnley but this current form against the smaller clubs has got to be a worry for Jurgen Klopp.
