Oh Jack Grealish, what have you done here?

The Aston Villa midfielder will take no further part this evening, given a second yellow card for a trip on Eric Lichaj.

It must be said, though, that it was the first booking that's cost him - shown for pointlessly kicking the ball away during the first half.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 77 mins

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

Jamie Ward, an Aston Villa supporter, is replaced by Thomas Lam.

I should've mentioned that, a few moments ago, Ben Brereton was also brought off the bench for Matthew Case.

Steve Bruce has still yet to call upon his bench.

Villa, who have been direct at times this evening, are more patient this time and work the ball wide left.

The subsequent cross into the area looks to be heading out of play but James Bree does well to control it and fire an effort across goal - only for it to be blocked behind.

We're into the final quarter of an hour.

  4. Reaction: Millers 'performed to their limits'published at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    FT: Bristol City 1-0 Rotherham

Rotherham keeper Richard O'DonnellImage source, Rex Features

Rotherham's 1-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Bristol City left them 15 points adrift of safety with only 16 games left to play this season.

Rotherham manager Paul Warne:"As a group I thought my lads performed to their limits. I don't know how much more I can ask of them physically.

"It was a tight game, neither of us were great attacking forces but they didn't create a great deal.

"He [Bristol City boss Lee Johnson] made a triple substitution because he needed to change it and that was the difference, we just came off the on the wrong side of it again.

"People will think it's the same old story but I don't think we deserved to lose."

If I was a betting man - I'm not - I think I'd be chucking 50p on Aston Villa here.

The visitors are looking increasingly dangerous through frontmen Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan and, although Forest have seen plenty of the ball, Villa look more likely to score.

Cue a Nottingham Forest goal, obviously...

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 69 mins

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

Wowzers, what an incredible save this is.

Aston Villa wing a set-piece into the Forest penalty area, which James Chester gets a toe poke onto and, for all the world, looks to be restoring his team's lead.

But Stephen Henderson, just take a bow. The former Aston Villa goalkeeper stretches out a strong left hand and produces a superb reaction save.

Visiting striker Jonathan Kodjia is down receiving some treatment - it looks like the forward has a bloodied nose - but he's fine to continue and is back on the field soon enough.

Aston Villa, all the while, have a corner - but Tommy Elphick scoops his effort over the crossbar.

This is proper end-to-end stuff. Britt Assombalonga is the latest to have a strike towards goal after exchanging passes with Forest strike partner Zach Clough, but it's high and wide.

  9. Reaction: Top two out of Reading's reach?published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    FT: Ipswich 2-2 Reading

    Tom LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

Promotion-chasing Reading were held to a 2-2 draw at Ipswich, leaving them four points behind second-placed Brighton, who have two games in hand on the Royals.

Reading manager Jaap Stam: "I don't think we were ever in the race for the top two. We are just beginning to build something this season after finishing 17th last year.

"If we have a chance to achieve something we should go for it, but I was never under any illusion that we are in the race for the top two against Newcastle, who have spent 60 to 70 million pounds, and Brighton, who have worked towards this for three years.

"My main frustration was how we conceded the goals - it makes it very hard when you have to equalise twice. I don't think we deserved any more but it was an important point for us."

And, speaking of goals, Scott Hogan isn't a million miles away from having one on his debut there, wriggling half clear inside the Forest area and forcing Stephen Henderson into a really smart save low down to his right.

At the other end, Nottingham Forest full-back Daniel Pinillos' sighter then has Sam Johnstone stretching to his left but the goalkeeper is equal to it.

Whatever you do, don't leave us, we've got a really decent game on.

I'm sure we've all watched plenty of average games in the Championship, matches between two strong and competitive sides cancelling each other.

Well, the good news is this doesn't really fall into that category. It's open, frenetic and you just feel like there are more goals in this for both sides.

How about this for a gesture?

Yeovil fans travelling to Hartlepool for the 1-1 draw earlier today faced a round trip of about 650 miles, spending upwards of 10 hours on the road.

After the game, Glovers boss Darren Way made sure his players showed their appreciation to the 97 supporters who made the journey.

Jonathan Kodjia is most certainly not a player who likes passing to his team-mates.

The Ivory Coast striker strides forward into the Forest half but, with Scott Hogan spinning off his man and potentially going clear, Kodjia instead shoots from fully 30 yards.

It's deflected behind, so that's at least something for Aston Villa, but he shouldn't be shooting there.

  14. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 48 mins

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest begin this second half in exactly the manner the ended the first - completely on the front foot.

Immediately they're appealing for a penalty too, as Tommy Elphick raises his arms to a Ben Osborn shot, but it doesn't look a penalty to me and it doesn't look like one to the referee either.

  15. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

So Aston Villa, in their white and sky blue away strip, get the second half under way, kicking towards their own supporters in this final 45 minutes.

  17. Reaction: 'We shouldn't have lost'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    FT: Newcastle 1-0 Derby

Derby manager Steve McClaren's return to former club Newcastle ended in a 1-0 defeat at St James' Park, leaving the Rams three points outside the Championship play-off places.

Derby manager Steve McClaren told BBC Radio Derby: "I'm disappointed to lose points but we came here, we had a go and we got them very nervous at the end.

"We were disappointed with the first-half with the goal, but second half we were fantastic and we shouldn't have lost that game.

McClaren was asked how coming back to St James' Park felt: "It was fine, it was no problem, it's a game of football.

"Great atmosphere, great stadium, great crowd - Newcastle is a great club, and we looked like we knew it in the first half.

"Once we got that out of the way, we played in the second-half and played well."

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+2 mins

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

For the best part of that opening 45 minutes Aston Villa looked pretty comfortable and deservedly led through Jonathan Kodjia's curler.

But Sam Johnstone's mistake and Britt Assombalonga's goal has given this Championship game a very different complexion at the break.
