  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45 mins

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

And now Scott Hogan's gone into the book for failing to retreat the appropriate distance and allow the corner to come in.

This has not been a good end to the first half for Aston Villa.

The set-piece, at least, is cleared once more.

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

The atmosphere has completely changed inside the City Ground here, with Nottingham Forest winning a free-kick in the wide-right position.

Jamie Ward delivers and inswinging cross but it's cleared by the Aston Villa defence.

Forest come again, however, and this time win a corner.

    Britt Assombalonga

Now, this isn't Sam Johnstone's finest hour in the Aston Villa goal.

The on-loan Manchester United keeper can only spill a relatively straighforward long-ranger from Jamie Ward and Britt Assombalonga is on it like a flash to slam the ball in from close range.

    Game well and truly on.

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Another dash forward from Jonathan Kodjia, another long-range attempt from the Aston Villa forward.

This one again has Stephen Henderson sprawling, but this time the Forest goalkeeper is equal to it.

We're into the final five minutes of the first half.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 40 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Matty Cash is the first Nottingham Forest player to receive a yellow card, going in late on Birkir Bjarnason and sending the Icelandic international rolling around on the floor rather elaborately.

    A booking, nonetheless.

  6. Reaction: Players showed 'immense character'published at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    FT: Bristol City 1-0 Rotherham

    Milan DjuricImage source, Rex Features

Bristol City won for the first time in 10 games, with Milan Djuric's header earning the Robins a hard-fought 1-0 win over bottom side Rotherham.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol: "It feels good, the players will feel good. I thought they showed immense character over the last two games, and to take four points from the last two games starts a positive run.

"If anybody thought Rotherham were going to come down here and lay down and die, that would have been madness because they have got energy and it's difficult to break down a team like that sometimes.

Johnson was later asked if Djuric's goal had "saved your job": "No, I don't, I think it's unfair to say that.

"I'm very committed to the club, it was an important win for us no question, but we roll on and full credit goes to the players and particularly the substitutes that had that impetus when they came on."

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

We've actually got a decent game on here now.

Forest forward Zach Clough is back into the action, curling a free-kick from 25 yards out just wide of Sam Johnstone's right-hand upright. Unlucky.

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Oh my word - how has Tommy Elphick not doubled Aston Villa's lead here? Not once, but twice.

First he pounces on a Stephen Henderson mistake but can only send a miss-kicked attempt wide of the near post, and then moments later he gets on the end of a corner but can only head straight down the goalkeeper's throat.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 32 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Birki Bjarnason fouls a Nottingham Forest player inside the Villa half - but it's Jack Grealish who immediately goes into the referee's notebook for kicking the ball away.

That's the 21-year-old's sixth booking of the season.

  11. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest have had two corners now, and both times it's Aston Villa who'd looked more like scoring from the resulting passage of play on the counter attack.

This time Michael Mancienne just about recovers to snuff Scott Hogan's run out on halfway, but the visitors are really committing bodies forward on the break.

  12. Reaction: Blues 'can only get better'published at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    FT: Birmingham 1-0 Fulham

Birmingham 1-0 FulhamImage source, Rex Features

Lukas Jutkiewicz's goal gave Birmingham a 1-0 win over 10-man Fulham and earned Blues their first win under Gianfraco Zola in his 11th game in charge.

Zola told BBC WM 95.6: "The players played with everything, a lot of awareness tactically and technically, but a lot of passion above all.

"I'm so proud and delighted with them, I'm very pleased.

"At the end of the day I was pleased in general with the performance, and we can only get better."

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Jamie Ward wriggles his way into a bit of space on the edge of the Villa penalty area, but his shot skews miles wide.

Nottingham Forest come again, though, and force Nathan Baker to clear behind for a corner - but it's an easy one to claim for goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

  14. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Aston Villa

Although Aston Villa haven't exactly been hammering away at the Nottingham Forest door, you'd certainly say they've edged the opening quarter and could argue they deserve their 1-0 lead.

It's all very quiet inside the City Ground at the moment.

    Jonathan Kodjia

    Aston VillaImage source, Rex Features

A really, really superb finish, is this.

Another white Aston Villa wave comes forward, with Jack Grealish picking a pocket of space and releasing Jonathan Kodjia, who caresses a perfect, curling first-time shot into the far corner to put the visitors ahead.

  16. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Aston Villa

How about this for a run from Scott Hogan?!

The Aston Villa forward bursts forward from the halfway line and all the way into the Forest penalty area, without a red shirt really getting close to him, but he eventually runs out of steam and fumbles a half-shot behind for a goal-kick.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Aston Villa

In truth, I'm probably overdoing it with the massive, capped-up 'PENALTY APPEAL' above, but I'm going for it anyway.

Zach Clough crumbles into a heap inside the penalty area, with James Chester getting touch-tight to the Forest striker, but the referee waves the half-hearted claims away.

Other than that Jonathan Kodjia shot a few minutes ago, there's really not been a huge amount to write home about.

What I can write about, however, is Villa's sorry away record, which has seen them win just two games on the road this season. After the 15:00 GMT kick-offs Steve Bruce's side have slipped 13 points behind the top six, and sit a precarious eight above the bottom three.

  19. Reaction: Newcastle 'deserved more'published at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    FT: Newcastle 1-0 Derby

    Matt RitchieImage source, Rex Features

Matt Ritchie scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle went back to the top of the Championship with a 1-0 win over Derby.

Rafael Benitez told BBC Newcastle: "It's important to get three points, I think we were really unlucky the other day [in the 2-2 draw with QPR] with an own-goal in the last minute.

"Today we deserved more, but in the end we got the three points.

"Everybody was working very hard together - fans, players, everyone - and that is the way to go up."

  20. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Aston Villa

The visitors are just starting to take a bit of control here, as this time Jonathan Kodjia spins away and sends a swerving shot towards Stephen Henderson, which the Forest keeper can only rather awkwardly parry away from danger.
