What a hit. He's caught it perfectly. Some of us will remember Carlos Alberto, it was almost exactly the same goal he scored in the World Cup final.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 4 mins

    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield

City so close to taking the lead. Leroy Sane has been superb in the last few weeks and he comes within a lick of paint of opening the scoring with a low drive that rattles the base of the post before flying away to safety.

Philip Billing is a big unit. Kevin de Bruyne thinks he has got away from him down the left but out comes a go-go-gadget leg to tackle.

Huddersfield won't just sit back. Wagner likes them to express themselves and they play with real energy. It should be open. We should have a good game tonight.

Shouts of handball as Town put some pressure on John Stones at the back. The City defender survives both the appeal and the attack, controlling before clearing.

I think the Huddersfield players will look at the Manchester City team and think 'good, that's not a reserve team, they're giving us respect'. In a strange way, it will give them a lift.

Pep Guardiola will want his team to start quick, sharp and take the game to Huddersfield. They should have too much going forward for Huddersfield. I think we will see goals.

Nine changes for Huddersfield Town tonight but that hasn't stopped their fans getting to their seats early at the Etihad Stadium.

This is the Terriers' first visit to the stadium that held the 2002 Commonwealth Games. They last played City away in 1999, in what is now the Championship - and won 1-0, thanks to a goal from Chris Beech.

Huddersfield's priority is undoubtedly promotion to the Premier League, but their squad proved strong enough not only to force this replay but also prevent City from scoring.

That's something only Barcelona, Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton had previously managed this season.

Manchester City still have an eye on other competitions too, not least the Champions League, but with Chelsea and Manchester United drawn together in the last eight, the FA Cup offers their best chance of a trophy in Pep Guardiola's first season in charge.

Both teams would surely fancy their chances in a quarter-final tie at Middlesbrough.

Man City v Huddersfield (19:45 GMT)

Man City manager Pep Guardiola on BBC One: " The teams at the top of the Championship, they are almost like a Premier League team. It will be tough, they will be strong. We know that.

"The last game was one week ago so the players are fit. I decided on this team. that is all. There are many games until the end of the season and many players will be involved."

Huddersfield head coach David Wagner on BBC One: "We showed in first game we are able to be competitive and we aim to make things as hard and uncomfortable against Manchester City even if we know they are one of the best teams in the world.

"It is the cup so it is live or die. We like to live. The good thing is this is a different competition, we can play with freedom, we can be brave because it has no influence on what we have to do in the Championship."

Huddersfield have made a lot of changes and I thought that was dangerous in the first game.

David Wagner has played the same side which show he has trust in his players.

But tonight City look a different proposition.

  15. 'City's best chance of silverware'published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2017

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

This is a huge test for Huddersfield. From a City point of view, they will have seen their biggest rivals - Manchester United - bag the first trophy of the season and will be thinking 'we want a piece of that'.

A good draw awaits them if they get through and they know another big hitter will go out in the quarter-finals with United playing Chelsea.

I think this is their best chance of silverware this season.

Man City's recent trip to Abu Dhabi gave Pep Guardiola the opportunity to meet the man who pays his wages - Sheikh Mansour - for the first time since joining the club in the summer.

It sounds like the meeting went well.

"I was really impressed that he knew absolutely everything about us," said Pep. "It was nice to meet him and spend a few hours together.

"He is so happy because he sees all the games and he sees the effort, he demands it. He knows we give absolutely everything and we fight until the end. It was nice because it is important for us to know the president. I had good relations with almost all my owners in Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

"But they know, we know, all the managers and owners know, that we are here because of the results. If the results are not good we are going to be replaced by another. I replaced another manager."

  17. 'Town are so professional'published at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2017

Man City v Huddersfield (19:45 GMT)

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola:  "Tomorrow is a final. Sometimes the teams at the top of the Championship are better than teams in the Premier League. They are so professional."

Don't sound like Pep is taking the Terriers lightly.

  18. 'Compared to Brexit, Town winning is not a shock'published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2017

Man City v Huddersfield (19:45 GMT)

Huddersfield manager David Wagner: “I have surprised myself with how well we have done this season. I don’t think I could ever have expected to still be in the FA Cup in March after playing one game against Manchester City, who are one of the best teams in the world.

“We know we can give Manchester City a competitive challenge and if we play the perfect game, we can win. When you have seen something like Brexit, you know that Huddersfield beating Manchester City would not be such a massive shock.”

You all see Mo Diame's goal for Newcastle at Brighton last night? If not, let me paint the picture. Corner comes over, Christian Atsu scuffs his volley to send the ball spinning towards Diame before ricocheting off his heel and looping up over Fikayo Tomori and in to the top corner. One of the great spawny goals.

Where does it rank, though, in the list of fluke goals? Which is your favourite? More importantly, what is the luckiest goal you've ever scored? We want details.
