    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

This is a better delivery from Fabio. The home side break and after a slight delay, the full-back chips one up to the back post, where a United head puts it behind.

The corner is floated right under the crossbar and claimed by De Gea.

Boro giving it a good go.

Fabio is on the charge down the left. He gets to the edge of the box to reach the ball but his cut-back is cleared by a United defender.

Boro can get at United, but they need their deliveries to be of a much higher quality.

Michael Devlin: I hope Jose focuses on Rashford's positives today, and not the misses.

Middlesbrough have played much better (than under Karanka). They have had much more of the possession but having said that the more likely team to score next are Manchester United.

They have got Rashford up front. He is looking lightning quick even if his finishing hasn't been that good.

There is a howl of pain as Antonio Valencia is caught on the boot by the sliding Fabio. A foul but no booking, though. The ref has a quiet word and we continue.

  6. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Chris Smalling is in the thick of it again, sliding in to take both ball and man down, the former going out for a corner. Boro are unable to make anything of the set-piece.

Quality defending from Chris Smalling. He tries to dive to head back to his own keeper but fails to account for the dipping ball and falls flat on his face. Where's your collapsible car and squirty flower Chris?

Boro chairman Steve Gibson is back out early. Forget all that hospitality, food, drink and warmth, he's got a football team to watch.

    And here come the players.

  10. City's poor results 'not a surprise'published at 12:56 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2017

Manchester City v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

Guardiola has managed in different countries and sometimes in other leagues before teams get to the game the opposition have given up.

That doesn't happen in the Premier League, the bottom team can beat anyone.

City are trying to play out from back but managers work it out. These are not surprise results when you play Kolarov at centre-back.

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Boro have had more of the ball but United have made better use of it. Sit deep, hit on the break. And why not, especially when you've got Rashford's pace up top? If the England forward changes into some shooting boots at the break United could blow Boro away.

The_Reckonist: Utd playing deep drawing Boro up the pitch. Not what Boro were expecting. VERY smart as possession football hasn't worked this season.

Agubata Odinaka: Oh Marcus Rashford, at this level, you have to be doing better than this. Where is that final ball?

Khael Malik: C Ronaldo was wasteful early on his career too. I see a big future for Rashford.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Many had written this off as a bore draw before kick-off. Far from it.

United grew into the half and should probably lead by more than Marouane Fellaini's back-post header.

Boro have looked lively in patches, though. They could still get something out of this yet.

  14. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Marcus Rashford's pace gets him into great positions, but his final ball or shot have not been there so far. Once again, he leaves Bernardo trailing in his wake, but after reaching the edge of the box his ambitious back-heel pass to Juan Mata is cut out.

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Marcus Rashford is giving Bernardo a torrid time with his pace. Lingard finds the striker in the box and he tears past his marker but can't quite poke the ball back to a team-mate. Bernardo is getting an insight into how terrible it is to be Wile E. Coyote.

The Meme Man: I have been one of Fellaini's biggest critics, but being made to eat my words. Outstanding on Thursday & a goal today!

Vaishach: When Fellaini starts he plays incredibly good! He only gets in our nerves when used as a sub!

  17. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Boro continue their pursuit of an equaliser and almost get one off the boot of United's scorer, Fellaini. A low cross deflects off the Belgian and loops over his own bar. The corner comes to nothing.

  18. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

Boro are working some good openings when they get the chance. This is definitely a more adventurous side than in previous games. Marten de Roon gets in down the left but his pull-back goes behind Negredo.

  19. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Manchester United

The opening goal was Marouane Fellaini's first in the Premier League since December 2015. It ends a run of 30 Premier League appearances without a goal.
