He might be desperate for a World Cup but Chris Coleman is reluctant to declare tonight's encounter in Dublin a "must-win" match for his team.
"People will look at this and say it's do or die but I don't see that," he said.
"All I see is a huge challenge, a great game for us. We've always wanted to be involved in games like this, when the pressure is on for all the right reasons, which means we're competing at the right end as opposed to halfway into it and competing for nothing, competing for pride. That's not the case."

Wales manager Chris Coleman has warned his players not to get caught up in a 'derby' atmosphere tonight.
His side fell to a stoppage-time defeat to England during the Euros and Coleman wants his side to learn from that loss.
"We can't miss the game - we did that I think against England," he said.
"We were disappointed after the England game because it was a British derby* and there was so much surrounding it, and we got sucked into that."
*Yes, I know that the Republic of Ireland is not in Britain. But Chris Coleman, or I, didn't actually say that it was.

Martin O'Neill wants his players to replicate their famous win over Italy last summer when they take to the field tonight.
Robbie Brady headed the winner in Lille to send O'Neill's side into the last 16.
O'Neill said: "It's not a distant memory. Some of the players who performed that evening can call upon the experience again and go for it.
"I think we will have to produce a performance like that against Wales. I think the players are ready for it."

They are not keen on the phrase "must win game" and the Welsh team are right not to see it in such stark terms.
A point would keep the pot boiling. But - here's the key point - Wales dare not lose. Defeat would leave them seven points adrift of Ireland with the easier home games in Cardiff already played.
So Wales need to take advantage of Irish injuries and suspensions. Three of the back 4 who played in the win in Austria are unavailable to Martin O'Neill while Wales should be at full strength for the first time since that famous Euro might in Lille.
