Anyway, that's us done. After all that, Southampton stay 10th, Bournemouth 11th. We'll remember nothing but THAT penalty.

    Oh, Harry Arter...

Very diplomatic from Eddie Howe. I wonder if Bournemouth have a fines system? If so, After will be buying the drinks for the next month.

  3. 'We had chances to put the game to bed'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 1 April 2017

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "It should have been three wins in a row. We were not great in the first half but in the second we dominated the game and had great chances put the game to bed.

On Harry Arter's penalty miss: "He is disappointed. It is football. We have missed our last three now.

"He slipped and that meant it went over. We had great chances in the second half and that is impressive because Southampton are a good team."

    Southampton

Southampton manager Claude Puel: "It was a difficult game. We know this because they are a good team with quality and defensive organisation.

"I think a draw is normal. We have the first opportunity to score and it was difficult to finish the game with tiredness and some international players. 15 of the players in the squad were playing in international games and we saw this. A draw is normal."

Full marks to Eddie Howe. What other manager could keep these average players in the premier league. It would be great to see what he could do with one of the big four.

To be fair, when you've been through what Harry Arter has, a rubbish penalty is small beer.

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth's Harry Arter who missed their second half penalty: "We had a gameplan and it wasn't really working. The manager got his 15 minutes to get his point across and in the second half we were the better side.

"I feel if I score we would have got three points. I didn't intentionally miss. As much as it is disappointing it is part and parcel of football. It is my fault, one of the lads said Harry Kane did something similar, maybe they need to have a look at it.

"There is no blaming in this team. The lads said keep your head up. It is not the end of the world and just a game of football."

Simon Goodall: Really thoughtful of Arter, to give the International Space Station a view of his penalty. Top guy.

  10. 'We have to work on penalties'published at 19:31 British Summer Time 1 April 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth captain Simon Francis speaking to BT Sport: "They had the better of the first half and we came out in the second and gave a much better account of ourselves.

"We couldn't quite get the ball in the net. We are both disappointed but a clean sheet off the back of two results is good for us.

"We have not had much luck with penalties of late, that could be three or four we haven't converted. We have to work on it, it may seem a simple thing but we have had a lot of penalties and it would be great to tuck one away."

  11. 'A draw is fair'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 1 April 2017

    Southampton 0-0 Bournemouth

    Southampton

Southampton captain Steven Davis speaking to BT Sport : "We are not overly pleased. The first half we played quite well and had a few chances but in the second we didn't get going. A draw is maybe a fair result but both teams are disappointed at the same time.

"There were chances for both sides and neither were clinical. It is a bit of a frustrating one today."

BBC News are reporting that flights in and out of Southampton airport are being disrupted by Harry Arter's penalty.

These pictures of the penalty spot crumbling like a soggy biscuit do lead to some sympathy for Arter, but sympathy is not we're about. We're about laughing at a pro footballer being reduced to the level of we mortals.

All over. A match of some decent moments, but you can't say either side deserved it.

Really, though, does anyone care about the result? This match was all about THAT Harry Arter penalty.

Now Harry Arter hits the target, this time from distance, calling Fraser Forster into action. Why didn't he do that from the spot?

It's just dawned on me that the Spurs and Bournemouth penalties were both missed by men called Harry. The plot thickens.
