    Stoke 1-0 Liverpool

Here comes the cavalry. Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho are high-fived and bottom-patted on to the pitch. The two teenagers, Ben Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are those to make way.

Men, not boys, required in the Potteries.

Jack: Liverpool completely blowing the chances of finishing in the top 4 , poor management and poor performance by the players, big improvement needed.

Mhmd: I just don't understand Liverpool anymore, what an awful display just awful

Jon Walters has seven Premier League goals against Liverpool - the same as Robin van Persie and Alan Shearer. They are very lucky to be mentioned in the same breath as Super Jon Walters.

  9. Drama in the EFLpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

It was a quiet start to the day's Premier League games, but it has all been going on in the EFL.

Reading, fourth in the Championship, are losing 6-1 at half-time against Norwich. SIX-ONE!

Elsewhere, Huddersfield are losing 1-0 at Nottingham Forest, a result which means Brighton could seal promotion to the Premier League as early as Good Friday.

In League One, Sheffield United are losing 1-0 at Northampton - but are going up as things stand, with third-placed Fleetwood trailing at Oldham.

At the other end, Coventry are heading to League Two as they are drawing 0-0 with Peterborough. A win could keep their very slim hopes of survival alive.

Seeing replays of that Erik Pieters challenge on Ben Woodburn.

You know what? It probably should have been a pen. Pieters on the floor, none of the ball and a wrap of the ankles.

    No complaints if that's given.

  11. Lukaku move a 'no-brainer'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

Romelu Lukaku comes with a £60m price tag,  but there is already plenty of speculation about Lukaku's next move. , external

The obvious club to splash out and throw the 23-year-old Belgian straight in the team would be his former side, Chelsea, if they were to sell Diego Costa.

Lukaku has already said  he will not sign a new contract at Everton  and, if he does get an offer from Chelsea at the end of the season, then it would be a no-brainer - he has to do it.

He would be Chelsea's main striker, playing in the Champions League and challenging for the title in a team which will give him lots of chances, which is exactly where he wants to be.

  12. 'No guarantees for Chelsea'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Bournemouth v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

A seven-point lead with eight games remaining is not a cast-iron guarantee of success, but it's hard to see the Blues straying from the blueprint which has taken them to the top.

Don't forget that Antonio Conte won the championship with Juventus in each of his last three seasons as a club manager. The Italian knows his way around a run-in and will have delighted Chelsea by  brushing aside rumours, external  that he might decamp back to Serie A this summer.

I was pretty concerned about Bournemouth a couple of months ago when it seemed they may be sucked into a relegation battle.

Now that their defence is looking tighter - and Joshua King has embarked on a hot streak of nine goals in 10 games - improving on last season's 16th-place finish looks almost a certainty.

  14. Plenty to ponderpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Manchester City 1-0 Hull

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

Both managers looked as though they had plenty to ponder at the break.

Pep Guardiola marched down the tunnel with purpose after seeming to get slightly more irritated as the opening period wore on, even though his side were winning.

Marco Silva walked much more slowly. They are clear underdogs for this game and have not done much attacking, to the extent Claudio Bravo has still not faced a shot on target.

Why can't players celebrate with their fans? I don't get it. What are they booking Kouyate for?

Players score a goal and want to celebrate with their fans. What's wrong with that? What happened to discretion?
