And that is that. Bayern, in control for 70 minutes, lost their way after scoring through Thomas Muller, and could easily have chucked away victory there. Credit to Gladbach for a strong finish, but I think Carlo Ancelotti will be glad to tick that game off.

One more chance for Gladbach. Raffael plays a pass wide to Thorgan Hazard, who slams a ball across the face of goal, seemingly in hope that it will hit someone and go in. It doesn't.

Renato Sanches hasn't really justified his presence yet either, bundling over Raffael and giving Gladbach a free-kick out on the right in a good position...

A rather odd tableau on the Bayern bench, as Arjen Robben is replaced by Renato Sanches. Robben is spitting feathers at being taken off - which causes his team-mates to break out in hysterics. Xabi Alonso, Franck Ribery and a few of his colleagues are chuckling away, while Robben sits beside them, absolutely stony-faced. Well, all comedy is subjective, I suppose.

Gladbach still in this. Josip Drmic is played into the penalty area down the right by Thorgan Hazard, maybe needs to hit it first time, takes an extra touch and allows Javi Martinez to block. Bayern probably need another goal to be sure here.

Yet at the other end, Ancelotti's side almost throw away their lead in the most bizarre manner. Thorgan Hazard chucks in a rather hopeful cross from the right, and Javi Martinez slices it inches wide of his own goal.

Laszlo Benes is on for Gladbach, replacing Andre Hahn.

Bayern step up their search for a second goal. Robert Lewandowski twists into space on the edge of the area and - although he has support - does just what you would expect of a goal-greedy striker, and shoots. Jannik Vestergaard blocks, and the danger passes.

Bayern midfielder Xabi Alonso, on a yellow card that rules him out of their next league game against Augsburg, comes off as Carlo Ancelotti sends on Joshua Kimmick for the final stages.

Gladbach's change seems to have given them a little extra zip. Thorgan Hazard gets a couple of cracks at goal from the right, the first of which is blocked, the second driven into Manuel Neuer's hands. I would expect the game to open up a little in the final 15 minutes. There may be another goal in this yet.

That's Franck Ribery's final contribution, as Kingsley Coman replaces him for the final 19 minutes. Ribery shakes his head as he ambles off, giving every impression of a man who feels his evening has been cut short early.

Josip Drmic is on in place of Tony Jantschke for Gladbach.

Gladbach need to find an equaliser from somewhere, but they can't get the ball at the moment. Bayern string together what must be the best part of two dozen passes, before Franck Ribery plays Arjen Robben down the left. The Dutch winger tries to chip Yann Sommer from a tight angle, but the keeper clutches the ball comfortably.

That's Muller's second Bundesliga goal of the season, and it puts Bayern on course to go 13 points clear of RB Leipzig at the top.

Now Gladbach give Bayern a scare. Patrick Herrmann feeds a pass left to Raffael, who takes a touch and drives just wide.

A half-chance for Bayern's top scorer Robert Lewandowski. Arjen Robben takes a quick through, and for once, Gladbach aren't set up well defensively. Thomas Muller whips a low ball across goal first time, but Lewandowski cannot react to it quickly enough, and diverts it wide.

The match is in a funny old place at the moment. Bayern are still having the bulk of the possession, and Gladbach are still sitting deep and making the odd counter-burst. It feels as if Bayern will make their superiority count sooner or later, but they are not making many clear chances - and there is just the threat that they may get caught out.

How to describe the booking that Xabi Alonso has just picked up? Let's say the Bayern midfielder was determined to make sure Andre Hahn didn't start a counter-attack for Gladbach as he charged past halfway. Alonso checked the run, took out Hahn and accepted the yellow card.
