GOAL - Atletico Madrid 1-0 Sevillapublished at 37 mins

    Diego Godin

Atletico Madrid captain Diego Godin is a handy attacking threat at set-pieces. Sadly for Sevilla, they seem to have forgotten. The centre-back is left unmarked to plant in a header from Antoine Griezmann's free-kick, and Atletico have the lead their pressure has deserved.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

More work for the ref here, as Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder charges through, and goes down as keeper Jan Oblak slides at his feet. Ben Yedder appeals for a penalty, and gets nought. Television replays show that Oblak pulled his hand away, and that the striker dived. The ref was right not to point to the spot - Ben Yedder is a little fortunate not to be booked.

The home fans are getting a little impatient now - perhaps the players are too. Kevin Gameiro is convinced he should have a throw-in as the ball appears to run out off Sevilla's Clement Lenglet - but the referee gives it the other way. Boos and whistles and looks of indignation follow, and I'm reminded of that Half Man Half Biscuit song, The Referee's Alphabet. (It's lovely - look it up.)

Joshua Byers Warner: I take offence by that! what do you mean you can actually have a good night in Leicester? Leicester is the Rome of England!

No offence intended, Joshua. I like Leicester. A friend of mine works for the local paper there, and has shown me the best of the sights.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Sevilla try to slow the game down a little. Atletico boss Diego Simeone, prowling the touchline, rubs his forehead. Wissam Ben Yedder chases down a back pass, and forces Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak to smash the ball out for a throw-in. Sevilla make nothing significant from it, but at least they've managed to get the ball to the other end for a minute or two.

    Sampdoria 0-1 Juventus

Just over 10 minutes to go in Serie A's big game - leaders Juventus are looking about as comfortable as is possible for a team with a single goal advantage. Juan Cuadrado's early header is still the difference between the sides.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 23 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

So far, Atletico are well on top. Sevilla still seem a little punch drunk from their night out in Leicester on Tuesday. You can have a good night out in Leicester, actually.

Yannick Carrasco's pace is once again too much for Sevilla - Sergio Escudero tracks back to hack him down, and is booked.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Yannick Carrasco, again down the right for Atletico, whizzes past Pablo Sarabia, who looks utterly lost in the left-wing back position. Sarabia is covering there because Sergio Escudero, the normal left-back, is operating in central midfield at the moment. Sevilla haven't got their left flank figured out yet, and the home side are exploiting that.

  9. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Sevilla hanging on by their fingernails in the opening quarter-of-an-hour. And the fingernails of Sergio Rico just made the difference in ensuring that Gameiro's chip didn't go in. A fine save.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Atletico's Kevin Gameiro is so close to a goal against his former club. The striker runs on to a through pass down the right, and angles a chip on to the bar. Does goalkeeper Sergio Rico get a touch? It's an escape for Sevilla, no doubt.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Yannick Carrasco, bursting down the right for Atletico, looks to have got the better of Pablo Sarabia, who stumbles and falls, and is somewhat grateful that referee Gil Manzano awards a free-kick in his favour. Diego Simeone, on the touchline, is not happy with the decision.

  12. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone looks very smart on the touchline today in a black suit with matching shirt. His Sevilla counterpart Jorge Sampaoli has gone for a red tracksuit top with black trousers.

Juanfran, just on as a substitute, lets Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder know he's around with a robust challenge. Ben Yedder looks a little miffed, but gets his free-kick.

  13. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Antoine Griezmann tries to roll a pass through for Atletico's former Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro, but there's just too much on it, and the ball runs through to Sergio Rico in the Sevilla goal. Plenty of noise from the stands. Bright start from the home side.

Didn't look good for Vrsaljko there. Concerns that he might have sustained a knee injury. Let's hope it's nothing serious.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 2 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

A problem straight away for Atletico right-back Sime Vrsaljko, who took a bang on the leg in a  collision with Sevilla's Sergio Escudero, and cannot continue. Juanfran is on in his place, in what may well be La Liga's earliest substitution of the season.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Sevilla

Sunshine in Madrid. Sevilla's Jorge Sampaoli, a manager very fond of his tactical switches, seemed to have gone with three centre-backs today.

Atletico Madrid v Sevilla (15:15 GMT)

This is how we stand at kick-off. Sevilla's league title push has lost impetus after draws against Alaves and Leganes; Atletico have won five of their last seven league matches, and victory today would strengthen their grip on a Champions League qualification place.

    European latest

Plenty going on elsewhere in Europe today - with Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in action later. Let's bring you up to date with the best of the action.

Juan Cuadrado scored a bullet header after seven minutes to give Serie A leaders Juventus a 1-0 half-time lead against Sampdoria.

A win for Massimiliano Allegri’s side will take them 10 points clear of Napoli in second, who earlier beat Empoli 3-2.

Roma can retake second spot if they beat Sassuolo later on tonight.

Ligue 1 leaders Monaco are beating Caen 2-0, thanks to a first-half strike from Kylian Mbappe and a Fabinho penalty. Mbappe, 18, received his first call-up to the France squad this week, and has now scored eight goals in his last seven Ligue 1 games.

In the Netherlands, Justin Kluivert, the 17-year-old son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, has scored his first goal for Ajax, who are drawing 1-1 at Excelsior.

  20. Nasri keeps his placepublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2017

Atletico Madrid v Sevilla (15:15 GMT)

Samir Nasri was sent off on Tuesday as Sevilla tumbled to Leicester, but his suspension does not apply to domestic games, and so he can play. Mariano and Clement Lenglet step into defence; Vicente Iborra and the injured Nicolas Pareja make way.

Sevilla XI: Rico; Mariano, Mercado, Rami, Lenglet, Escudero; Sarabia, Nasri, N’Zonzi, Vitolo; Ben Yedder.

Substitutes: Caro, Carrico, Montoya, Vazquez, Iborra, Correa, Jovetic.
