  1. 'Surely Leeds cannot contain them?'published at 59 mins

Leeds surely cannot contain them for the whole game.

But the longer the game goes on, can Leeds go up the other end and nick one? What we've seen so far suggests not.

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 58 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

A Newcastle corner is flicked on at the near post by Jamaal Lascelles and, at the far post, the hosts want a spot kick as Luke Ayling appears to impede Chancel Mbemba as he attempts to reach the flick-on.

Nothing in that, says the ref.

A big goal at the bottom of the Championship.

Ipswich open the scoring against Burton at the Pirelli Stadium courtesy of an own goal by Luke Varney.

A corner comes in and the ball ends up in the net with the last touch coming off the Burton striker.

  4. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Leeds will feel they've been slightly harshly treated for both of those yellow cards. Aleksandar Mitrovic was arguably equally at fault on both occasions.

  5. YELLOW CARD (Leeds)published at 54 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Now Aleksandar Mitrovic and Kyle Bartley clash in the middle as Newcastle are trying to break down the right. And Bartley is booked this time.

  6. YELLOW CARD (Leeds)published at 52 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Pontus Jansson is booked as he and Aleksandar Mitrovic clash in the air.

Now on 14 bookings for the season, the Leeds defender is close to a sizeable suspension at a crucial time of year.

I think Rafael Benitez's face sums up Newcastle's first 50 minutes. Plenty of attacking threat, no real cutting edge. Leeds have defended doggedly.

Still plenty of time for things to change.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 49 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Matt Ritchie curls the free-kick around the wall nicely but Rob Green gets there to palm the ball round the far post.

Newcastle's Issac Hayden starts the half with an awkward landing after challenging in the air, but he is OK.

Moments later, he wins the hosts a corner. Jonjo Shelvey whips it in but Leeds clear.

And now Hayden is fouled on the edge of the box for a Newcastle free-kick. This is a chance...

Leeds, all in blue, get the game started again.

    HT: Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Personally, I feel Newcastle have really missed Dwight Gayle so far. He's so lethal inside the box - and the hosts were camped inside the Leeds box a fair bit, especially towards the end of that first half.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been involved in a physical battle with Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson in particular. But would Gayle's pace and quick feet be causing the Leeds pair more difficulty? Very possibly.

  13. The run-inpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

Here's how leaders Brighton and second-placed Newcastle finish their Championship campaigns.

Both look relatively simple on paper.

It's been a great game of football. Leeds' quality has let them down at times when they've been on a counter attack.

It's been amazing that Newcastle have had eight, nine, 10 corners of real quality and they haven't scored.

It's going to be a tough, tough second half for Leeds unless they turn it around because Newcastle are starting to impose themselves.

    Burton 0-0 Ipswich

It's also goalless at half-time in the other Championship game this evening.

It has been an open first half between Burton and Ipswich with a handful of chances at either end but neither side has found the back of the net.

As it stands, both teams edge a point further away from relegation danger.

Burton would move up one place to 20th, three points above Blackburn in 22nd, while Ipswich would reach that 50 points barrier if the score stays the same.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Both sides head off a half-time orange, both counting themselves slightly unlucky not to have scored as they both struck the woodwork. But Newcastle were definitely the better side in that first half.

  18. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

Pontus Jansson checks Aleksandar Mitrovic with a late tackle. The Magpies forward isn't impressed. They've had a good first-half battle though. It's been physical.

  19. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

One minute of added time has been signaled at the end of a really lively first half of Championship football.

  20. 'Great quality coming in'published at 44 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Leeds

    Steve Stone

It's an absolute bullet of a header [from Mbemba]. I think Robert Green was lucky it was just above him.

There's great quality coming in from Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie at the moment which is causing problems.
