Slovenia head coach Srecko Katanec told this evening's media conference: "Scotland are at home so they will be the favourites, but we want the win because in this group one point is not enough.

"We expect an aggressive opponent and we have a to be the same - we must concentrate on the second ball.

"Scotland are not as bad as their results suggest and some of the goals they have conceded so far have been unlucky."

Slovenian captain Bosjan Cesar added: "They are aggressive all over the pitch, but they have good players.

"They tend to play long balls, so the second ball is going to be very important for us."

Our long day started with Dundee United beating St Mirren 2-1 to lift the Irn Bru Cup - the first time the Tannadice outfit have won what started off as the Scottish Challenge Cup.

Now the two sides return to Championship action, with United finding themselves further adrift of leaders Hibs but not having lost ground on Falkirk and Morton above them.

Meanwhile, St Mirren find they have fallen further adrift of Ayr United at the bottom.

"But sometimes, when you have a challenge like that in life, it brings the best out of you, so we will have a team ready for that challenge of 'must win'.

"What we don't have to do is win it in the first five or 10 minutes. You never know in big games when your opportunity will come along.

"However, what we do have to do is make opportunities and the players we pick will make those opportunities.

"But, if we don't score, we must get back into our shape that allows them very little opportunities."

Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon on BBC Radio Scotland: "It was exciting, but I thought we thoroughly deserved to win.

"We scored a great goal and then handed them an equaliser out of nothing.

"There were some big performances and I think it was a pivotal day with Morton losing.

"I think it will be the same again against Morton in midweek.

"It is seven years since we beat Falkirk here, so the players are entitled to enjoy tonight."

Elgin City's 3-0 defeat by Edinburgh City allows Annan Athletic to move into third after their 1-0 win over Cowdenbeath.

Leaders Forfar Athletic lost at home to Berwick Rangers, second-placed Arbroath at home to Montrose, while Stirling Albion beat Clyde as the three sides immediately below the play-off places all won.

The butterflies will be even worse at the bottom after Clyde twice surrendered the lead to lose at home to Stirling to fall three points behind Edinburgh after the league newcomers' excellent home win.

Clyde will be thankful for Annan's victory over Cowdenbeath, who remain four points adrift at the bottom.

Livingston's 4-2 win over Airdrieonians extend their lead at the top of League One to 11 points after Alloa Athletic slipped up with a draw at home to Queen's Park.

Brechin City won the third versus fourth game 2-1 against East Fife to move three points clear of their visitors.

A stoppage-time equaliser for Peterhead against Stranraer lifts them four points clear of Stenhousemuir, who slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to Albion Rovers.

The Coatbridge side had started the day second bottom but leapfrog Peterhead and are now level with Stranraer.

What a big result for Hibs against Falkirk and it was a winner by James Keating worthy of a return to the top flight.

The Edinburgh side move 10 points clear of the Bairns and Morton at the top of the Championship.

At the bottom, Ayr came from behind to beat Dumbarton to not only draw level with the visitors but move four points clear of bottom side St Mirren.

Raith Rovers' draw with Queen of the South and Dunfermline's win over Morton means the two Fife sides move a step clearer to safety from relegation.
