"There has been a bit of criticism our way, probably self-inflicted.

"We have got ourselves caught in battles and the message today was to get the ball down and play - and I think they did that.

"A lot of credit must go to St Mirren - they made it very difficult for us.

"But we have won a cup, we have had the experience of dealing with the final and the pressure that goes with it.

"So that will be good for me and the players for the rest of the season. They should take a lot of confidence from this."

    Scotland v Slovenia (Sunday 19:45)

    Chris McLaughlin
    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

Gordon Strachan says the must-win element to tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Slovenia actually takes the pressure off his side.

The Scotland head coach says it leaves the players under no illusions about what is expected at Hampden.

Scotland sit fifth in Group F with only one win in four games.

Strachan also told the media today that he has a couple of knocks in the squad but wouldn't elaborate.

He refused to discuss his own position, but it's understood his time as Scotland boss could well end if his side lose tomorrow night.

The sun is out here at Cappielow and there's plenty at stake for Morton. Least of all an impressive record.

Morton have gone a calendar year without losing at home in all competitions.

Will they continue that impressive streak today or will Dunfermline Athletic bounce back from defeat by Ayr United last weekend?
