At the other end of the table, Burton and Bristol City are ahead in their games at the bottom against fellow strugglers Birmingham City and Blackburn respectively. Bristol City striker Tammy Abraham scored his 25th goal of the season to put his side ahead at Ewood Park.

The only game without a goal is Cardiff-Nottingham Forest.

Knockaert's corner is adjudged to have gone out of play for a goal-kick before curling back into the box. Wigan are still in this one, but only just.

    Plymouth 1-0 Newport

Matty Kennedy heads Plymouth in front and Argyle are heading for League One.

It is already half-time at Craven Cottage as Fulham lead 10-man Aston Villa 1-0.

Daniel Pudil has put Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 up at Loftus Road following Idrissa Sylla's equaliser.

In two games that are not testing either end of the table, Graham Dorrans and Josh Murphy have given Norwich a 2-0 lead at Preston while Marley Watkins has put Barnsley ahead against Brentford.

    What a moment for Brighton!

Lewis Dunk plays the ball forward to Tomer Hemed, who takes advantage of some poor defending from Dan Burn to control it and lay the ball back to Glenn Murray just outside the box.

The big striker makes no mistake, driving the ball hard into the bottom corner via a slight deflection.

  12. Chesterfield heading for relegationpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Scunthorpe 2-0 Chesterfield

On loan Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney has doubled the lead for Scunthorpe. Bleak for Chesterfield fans as their team look destined for League Two.

    Brighton 0-0 Wigan

    Fatboy SlimImage source, Rex Features

Brighton have come a long, long way together, through the hard times and the good, and now they are potentially just an hour of football away from being virtually assured of a spot in the Premier League.

They'll need to find a way past a very resilient Wigan side if they are to start the celebrations tonight though, with the Latics frustrating the hosts through 30 minutes.

Lewis Dunk meets Anthony Knockaert's free-kick, but heads some distance over.

Norman Cook, the man they also call Fatboy Slim, seems pretty happy with Brighton's showing so far.

  18. League One latestpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

Scunthorpe's goal has moved them up to third, while Chesterfield surely have to come out knowing they're being relegated as it stands.

Charlton, Northampton, Oxford and Rochdale all leading by a goal to nil. No goals elsewhere.

    Mansfield 1-0 Luton

Good news for both Plymouth and Portsmouth, as Luton have fallen behind at Mansfield. Argyle and Pompey would go up from League Two today if results stay the same.

Wigan have settled into the game a little more now, though still without ever threatening the Brighton goal.

Stephen Warnock tries to test the Seagulls defence with a cross from the left, but the former England left-back gets it all wrong, launching the ball far over the box and out of play.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton will be pretty happy with what he's seen so far.
