Wigan's relegation to League One was confirmed with a 1-0 defeat by Reading, whose place in the play-offs was already assured.

    Wigan manager Graham Barrow said:

"At the end of the game, I was disappointed because I wanted to take it to the last weekend. But results went against us elsewhere as well.

"I thought we could stay up, I knew it was a long shot, and I was quite proud of the performance today. But obviously the finishing touch was not there.

"The lads have been great for me but clearly it hasn't been enough to keep us up.

"There are things we'll have to look at internally, which haven't been right, and that's fact. We are where we are, the table tells no lies."

Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat by QPR leaves them 21st in the Championship, only outside the relegation zone on goal difference. The Reds host Ipswich in the final game of the season.

Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton told BBC Radio Nottingham.

“We created chances against a good team, but we didn’t take them, it’s as simple as that.

“I was pleased with long aspects of the game, whether it was four at the back or three at the back, we created space, created chances. We’ve got to get the rewards, the work ethic, their commitment, their quality’s evident, but we’ve got to get the rewards.

“We’ve got to come in, we’ve got to work hard, we’ve got to focus on the game and we’ve got to deliver a performance.”
