    Carlisle 0-0 Exeter

Jamie Proctor is once again in the thick of things for the hosts, his curling effort well off-target though.

Carlisle then force a corner which they take short, but Exeter are able to clear.

Keith Curle's side have had the better of the opening 10 minutes.

  2. Postpublished at 18:40

    Blackpool 0-0 Luton

Blackpool striker Kyle Vassell with the first half chance of the game but his shot inside the area is blocked.

A scrappy opening 10 minutes though from either side.

  3. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Blackpool 0-0 Luton

Luton defender Dan Potts is the unfortunate recipient of an elbow to the head from Blackpool's Kelvin Mellor.

He stays down for a couple of minutes receiving treatment with no free-kick awarded, just a throw-in to the Seasiders.

  4. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Carlisle 0-0 Exeter

Carlisle forward Jamie Proctor forces a smart save from Bobby Olejnik, but it wouldn't have counted anyway as the striker was penalised for a push on Exeter captain Jordan Moore-Taylor.

Already there's an end-to-end feel to this one.

  5. Postpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Blackpool 0-0 Luton

In front of a sea of empty tangerine seats at Bloomfield Road, nothing much to talk about so far.

The visiting fans giving former striker Mark Cullen a few boos is about as exciting as it has got.

Play-off semi-final first legs are renowned for being nervy affairs, but when Carlisle and Exeter met in the regular-season both games ended 3-2 to the Cumbrians.

The most recent of those came on the last day of the campaign - expect entertainment.

    All quiet after two minutes.

Forest Green Rovers have been promoted to the English Football League for the first time as they beat Tranmere Rovers in the National League promotion final earlier this afternoon.

After fine strikes from Kaiyne Woolery and Tranmere's Connor Jennings, Christian Doidge and Woolery goals put Forest Green 3-1 up at the break.

Their Gloucestershire home town of Nailsworth will be the smallest ever to host an EFL club next term, with a population of 5,794.

All four of the clubs involved tonight will be hoping they won't be in the same division as Forest Green next season...

When Exeter were beaten 3-2 at tonight's opponents Carlisle in mid-November, it left them bottom of League Two.

In fact, they spent far longer in the drop-zone than Hartlepool, who ended up going down - but a run of seven consecutive wins in the new year propelled Paul Tisdale's sides to the other end of the table.

    Carlisle v Exeter (18:30 BST)

Paul Tisdale has made a massive call, starting Bobby Olejnik in goal for the first time in almost two months, with Christy Pym dropping to the bench.

Craig Woodman is back from injury, while Reuben Reid is among the substitutes for the visitors.

Exeter: Olejnik, Woodman, James, Harley, Wheeler, Grant, Watkins, Moore-Taylor, Taylor, Sweeney, Brown.

Substitutes: Pym, Tillson, Holmes, McAlinden, Stacey, Croll, Reid.

  13. Carlisle team newspublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

Carlisle striker Jabo Ibehre and midfielder Jason Kennedy are not fit enough to start as they recover from injuries, though Kennedy is on the bench.

Reggie Lambe and James Bailey come into the side, with Macaulay Gillesphey among the substitutes.

Carlisle: Gillespie, T Miller, Grainger, Raynes, Liddle, Joyce, Bailey, Devitt, Adams, Lambe, Proctor.

Substitutes: Crocombe, Gillesphey, Kennedy, O'Sullivan, S Miller, Waring, Nabi.

From the four EFL play-off first legs we've seen so far there have been a measly three goals, with the games being cagy and, in truth, rather dull.

Which has got us thinking - would it be better if we did away with first legs altogether,  instead playing two one-off semi-finals, with the side that finished higher in the table having home advantage?

It's a bit radical, but we're all for quality over quantity here.

You cannot argue that the Hatters deserve their stab at promotion, having spent just one week in January out of the play-offs throughout the whole campaign.
