In contrast to the celebrations at St James' Park, the City Ground and Ashton Gate, there is despair at Griffin Park for poor old Blackburn.

They did more than could have been expected of them today... They beat a very good Brentford side by a two-goal margin.

But who could have expected all three struggling sides to win? Other results have sent Rovers down.

    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

You have got to feel for Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale.

The keeper has been superb all season and made a number of fine saves today but his error has handed Newcastle the title.

However, it's Premier League football next season for Brighton anyway.

Jack Grealish drifts in from the left and hits a shot from 25 yards that the Seagulls keeper should stop with ease but it goes through him.

Meanwhile, Newcastle now lead 3-0 against Barnsley thanks to Dwight Gayle and, more importantly, will win the league if things stay as they are.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

Great save from David Stockdale to deny Conor Hourihane's free-kick.

A Villa equaliser would see Newcastle take the title.
