Surely, *surely*, this is what all neutrals want: a play-off for the final Champions League place?

Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are all in the mix for it.

The three clubs, occupying third to fifth place in the Premier League, are separated by three points going into Sunday's final round of games.

But their goal difference, and goals scored, are similar enough to raise the prospect of two teams finishing joint third or fourth with identical records - necessitating a one-off play-off match.

The Argentina goalkeeper gets down to his left to deny Nathan Redmond, who took a low strike after a one-two with Steven Davis.

A great ball into the box from Juan Mata but Cedric gets in front of Marouane Fellaini and Man United earn a corner. A decent bit of defending, that.

Wayne Rooney's corner...goes straight into the hands of Fraser Forster.

Jose Mourinho looks a bit fed up. The Man United boss said before the game that he really wasn't bothered about the Premier League, with the Europa League final looming.

He doesn't look too enthusiastic about this first half.

We've had two fantastic balls into the box.

Gabbiadini and then Mata both whipped in beautiful balls, but nobody showed any desire to get on the end of either of them.

This is going exactly how we thought it would.

And here's a graphic to prove just how entertaining this match has been.

Southampton dominating possession, but both sides seemingly reluctant to leave the middle of the park.

We hope for more in the second half.

Juan Mata sets up young Axel Tuanzebe on the edge of the area.

The Man United midfielder takes a swing with his right foot and his effort bounces off two Southampton defenders.

The resulting corner eventually falls to Chris Smalling, but his flick doesn't work out well.

Another Dusan Tadic corner. Let's hope it's better than the last one.

Manolo Gabbiadini heads it back across goal but Chris Smalling clears. Eventually it goes out for a goal kick.

Babatune Sakiru: Man Utd are not exciting to watch anymore, no chemistry between the players.

Aamer Iqbal: A lumbering, labouring, Utd side. Same against Swansea, Arsenal, Celta Vigo and Spurs. Bang average and boring. Mourinho out.

Before or after the Europa League final?

After the drama in the first five minutes, it's all gone a bit flat.

The away fans are making a bit of a din, mind.

Cedric is back in the action again, as he's forced off the ball by Marouane Fellani in the box.

The Southampton man makes a faint call for a foul, but for once Fellani's tackle was well-timed and completely legit.
