    Pressure on Southampton now.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scuffs a low shot goal-wards and Fraser Forster palms out for a corner.

Juan Mata's corner bounces about, Wayne Rooney can't quite get a the flick on it.

Eventually the hosts clear but it's very messy.

Good free-kick but it's probably too far out and by the time it makes it's way to the keeper he's got across the goal.

That was never going to trouble Romero.

James Ward-Prowse and Dusan Tadic hover over it.

The ball is zipping around the feet of the Southampton players, but they've not done an awful lot with it yet.

Man United snatch possession and Wayne Rooney tees up a lovely pass to Anthony Martial, but the Frenchman's shot drifts wide of the post without troubling the keeper.

Goals have been hard enough to come by this season and now Saints have missed three penalties in a row! Tadic, Long and now Gabbiadini! Who's coaching them: Gareth Southgate?

Andrew Priestley: Sergio Romero, the PL's best number two GK by a country mile. If De Gea leaves in the summer, United don't need a replacement.

Alex Corps: How difficult is it to have video technology? A poor decision AGAIN in the supposed 'best league'.

    Hummmmmmm....

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 9 mins

Oriol Romeu is booked for a challenge on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, which has left the United man winded. He's ok and back up on his feet.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 8 mins

    Southampton 0-0 Manchester United

Welcome to the Eric Bailly show!

The Manchester United defender, having just made a mess of that handball for the penalty, tries to make amends by going on a mazy run through the middle and he forces Fraser Forster into a solid save.

Eric Bailly is under absolutely no pressure there. He's barely got out of a walk since the start of the game and he just didn't look particularly bothered.

It's all very low-key. It feels like people are still arriving, there are empty seats and it's got an end-of-season feeling about it.

    Southampton make a bright start.

Nathan Redmond's shot is blocked from inside the area and Matt Targett tries to fire home the loose ball but it goes way over.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Saints' pitch may look pretty with it's concentric circle pattern, but it makes my eyes go funny.

Apparently, according to our commentator Conor McNamara, they're going to be banned next season. Bah humbug.

Bettering last season's top-six place was always going to be difficult for Southampton but this will be the first time in seven years that the club won't have improved their final league position.

"Manchester United, meanwhile, must win both remaining league fixtures or Jose Mourinho will end his debut campaign with fewer league victories than in any of the previous three seasons under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

Having put all his eggs in the Europa League basket - making eight changes ahead of defeats to both Arsenal and Tottenham - Mourinho must decide whether further rest or battle-hardiness is the best preparation for facing Ajax in Stockholm.

  20. Over and outpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 17 May 2017

Southampton v Manchester United (19:45 BST)

As we mentioned earlier, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho definitely considers the Premier League season to be over already - even though there's still two games to play.

They're in sixth. They can't be caught and they are too far away to chase Arsenal in fifth.

Their minds are very much on the Europa League final against Ajax later this month. A win will see Mourinho lift his second trophy in his first season at Old Trafford, and United will earn a place in the Champions League.

However, after back-to-back losses in the league, the players will surely want to avoid going out on a whimper, having previously gone undefeated in 25 matches.
