  7. A minute's silencepublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

Ajax v Manchester United (19:45 BST)

The two teams face up against each other, one side each of the centre circle as Solna is engulfed with silence.

The silence does not last long at all though before it turns into a minute's applause instead. That was rather clumsy. But it does end with a very loud rendition of 'Manchester, Manchester.'

Here come the teams into the stadium. A few stern faces on the United players as they make their way out. Pressure. Lots of pressure.

But huge pressure on the Ajax team too. How will their young players cope in such an intense spotlight?

There's a lot of emotion in this stadium. The big moment for the Manchester United players is when the minute's silence comes - how can they handle it.

The United fans have found their voices, are stood up on their feet and you can feel the emotion.

The Friends Arena is pumped up as we edge toward kick-off time. A cracking atmosphere.

    Everybody set?

Not that you need reminding but a place in the group stage of next season's Champions League, as well as a lovely big trophy, is at stake.

  13. Are you watching, Amsterdam?published at 19:38 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

Ajax v Manchester United (19:45 BST)

Looks like quite a turnout back in Amsterdam!

I'm told that Ajax fans outnumber those from Manchester inside the stadium as well.

  14. Success or failure?published at 19:36 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

Whatever happens this evening, it will almost certainly not be the time for critique of Manchester United's season.

But boss Jose Mourinho announced that 'finishing fourth is not the aim' when he was appointed last summer and while he managed that - I'm sure finishing sixth was not the aim, either.

United need to win tonight to stop their season from being a failure. Right?

  15. Zlatan making his presence feltpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

Ajax v Manchester United (19:45 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Friends Arena, Stockholm

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has figured prominently for both of these clubs - but is missing tonight after sustaining a serious knee injury in Manchester United's quarter-final win against Anderlecht.

He is here pitchside in his native Sweden and has just been talking to representatives from Ajax and will no doubt be offering words of wisdom in the United dressing room.

'Glory, glory Man United!' is loud and proud from the stands as the players disappear down the tunnel, Injured players Zlatan and Marcos Rojo, and the banned Eric Bailly, are there by the tunnel to meet the XI playing tonight.

Bailly and Rojo are wearing club suits. Zlatan's got a hoodie on.

  18. 'Ajax are very, very young'published at 19:27 British Summer Time 24 May 2017

Ajax v Manchester United (19:45 BST)

    Steve McClaren
Ex-England manager on BBC Radio 5 live

It's a miracle Ajax have come so far. They are very, very young. They are very proud of their academy here and they do it well.

Their front five are aged 21 and under. Man United have got to go at them tonight. They can't sit back and wait. Yes Ajax score but they are not renowned for defending well.

I can only expect one result tonight (a United win) but I have expected one result the whole season and Ajax have managed to reach the final.

Both sets of players are finalising their pre-match warm-ups, Wayne Rooney hitting a few 20-yarders into the practice nets.

Could tonight be his final appearance for United? The England squad is set to be announced on Thursday and there's every chance, you'd think, that he won't be picked.

I don't think I have told you already but Manchester United are wearing blue tonight, with Ajax in their traditional white and red strip.
