Tranmere really should have closed down Kaiyne Woolery there. They just let him come further and further forward.

Micky Mellon won't be happy with what he has seen from his side, but you can't take anything away from the effort from Woolery.

"I don't believe it! Kaiyne Woolery drove an absolute rocket with his left foot.

"But now Forest Green have got 80 minutes to hang on!"

First blood to Forest Green Rovers and what a hit by Kaiyne Woolery.

The on-loan Wigan winger saunters forward, and when no defenders come out to close him down he decides to take a nonchalantly strike at goal and what a strike it was.

The low effort went in off Tranmere keeper Scott Davies' post and Woolery sends much of rural Gloucestershire into raptures.

The noise coming from my right is absolutely electric. Tranmere's fans are enjoying the little mistakes in the slightly jittery Forest Green defence so far.

At the other end, Kaiyne Woolery's pace is going to cause problems.

    Tranmere 0-0 Forest Green

Forest Green win a free-kick in a really dangerous position outside the box as Steve McNulty knocks over Christian Doidge.

It's about 25 yards out just to the left of the goal... Liam Noble scoops it over. Disappointing.

    Tranmere 0-0 Forest Green

End-to-end stuff at Wembley early on as Keanu Marsh-Brown can't connect properly with a teasing cross into the box.

Marsh-Brown scored for Forest Green here against Grimsby last season. Can he do the same for his side this?

    Tranmere 0-0 Forest Green

Tranmere win an easy corner when Forest Green keeper Sam Russell makes a hash of a backpass, but once more the delivery is poor and doesn't beat the first man.

    Tranmere 0-0 Forest Green

You can already see a pattern emerging in Forest Green's play. They are trying to get right winger Kaiyne Woolery involved but so far Tranmere have cut out any cross-field passes.

    Tranmere 0-0 Forest Green

Early opportunity for Tranmere as they win a free-kick on the right-hand side, but Adam Buxton's delivery is cleared by a Forest Green head.

    Poor delivery there.

The teams are out in the glorious Wembley sunshine and the formalities of handshakes and whatnot are under way.

Like Tom says, Wembley's stands are looking rather one-sided today. But it's not in the stands the match is played...

Be in no doubt over which side will have the louder support this afternoon. Walking into the ground, even two hours before kick-off, there was a sea of white shirts and just a smattering of green.

Tranmere have one of the largest fan bases in non-league football and they're here in numbers.

But, that said, don't think Forest Green's aren't committed too. Around half the residents of their home town of Nailsworth have made the trip today, while several villages in rural Gloucestershire almost entirely emptied for the day.

You could sense plenty of nerves on the train to Wembley. There is a lot at stake today. Neither side wants another year in the National League.

Tranmere Rovers are hoping to end a two-year exile outside of the Football League today.

Beaten to the National League title by deserved champions Lincoln City, Tranmere have excelled under manager Micky Mellon.

"We'll be desperate at Wembley to give a good account of ourselves and get us over the line," Mellon told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"It will be an amazing day but it's not about me. It is about the team trying to finish off what has been an unbelievable season really."

Forest Green know how much it hurts to lose this match.

Last year they were pipped by Grimsby Town in the promotion final, scuppering their hopes to become a Football League club for the first time.

But after finishing third in the table this season and defeating Dagenham in the semi-final, Mark Cooper's side are back at Wembley again to right the wrongs.

Should the Gloucestershire side join League Two, it would make their home town of Nailsworth the smallest settlement to ever host a Football League club.

A day that can change the course of a football club.

The Championship play-off final is the most lucrative game in football, as they say, but the National League promotion final can transform the fortunes of a club in the non-league.

Just look at Bristol Rovers, winners of this match two years ago and only just missing out on the League One play-offs this season.

Today one of Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green will know they are a Football League club next season.
