That is an absolutely brilliant strike from Josh Onomah. I don't know whether they can use the video assistant referees to look back if it is needed but it looks like it came down right on the line.

The game is really starting to open up now. Yeferson Soteldo has given Venezuela a real lift since coming on.

From one end to the other. England so, so close to doubling the lead. Josh Onomah, 25 yards out, fires one at goal, the ball hits the underside of the crossbar, bounces down on the line and bounces away.

A English shot bouncing down off the crossbar, and on / over the line in a World Cup final. We've been here before. A long, long time ago.

But unlike in 1966, when the ball clearly went over the line, maybe, this time no goal is given. Rightly so as well.

Tough times for England. Yangel Herrera meets a right-wing corner and powerfully heads at goal from 12 yards, but Freddie Woodman saves on the line.

  4. GOOD SAVE!published at 12:10 British Summer Time 11 June 2017

    Venezuela U20 0-1 England U20

Chance for Venezuela. Yeferson Soteldo, who has only just come on as a substitute, threads a through-ball to Sergio Cordova, but the South American is denied by Freddie Woodman, who is off his line quickly to narrow the angle before saving the strike with his legs.

The Venezuelans are coming into the match a bit more. This could be a nervous 40 minutes for England.

A comfortable save from Freddie Woodman, who keeps out a weak 12-yard header from Yangel Herrera, a player who is on Manchester City's books.

He was signed by Pep Guardiola on transfer deadline day in January, before immediately being sent to City's sister club New York City FC.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 47 mins

    Venezuela U20 0-1 England U20

We have our first booking of the match, quickly followed by our second.

Firstly, Venezuela's Williams Velasquez is cautioned for jumping into Dominic Calvert-Lewin, before England centre-half Fikayo Tomori is shown yellow for clipping the ankle of Adalberto Penaranda.

Who have you seen play before they were famous?

James Wood: Saw a young Paul Robinson keep a clean sheet on debut for Leeds against Chelsea. England international in the making!

Paul G. Oliver: I watched England vs. Brazil U18s a few years ago with Andy Cole and Juninho playing against each other.

Andy Craig: Saw Michael Owen score five for Liverpool youth against Marine youth on the pitches at the end of my road in Formby. Wasn't bad.

Jacob Newbury: Watching England U20s trying my best to not get overly excited by the team - Lookman looks a steal for £10m at this point.

Rajas: U20s playing with width and attacking flair, wonderful to watch. The senior team could learn a thing or two from them.

Scott Wilcox: Can we send the U20 side to play the senior matches?

That was a great watch. Some really technical players giving their all. I've been really impressed. If they can keep this and bottle it, that is priceless.

They're playing with a smile on their face and that's a brilliant thing to have as a footballer.

They must spend ages practising their free-kicks in Venezuela. That first strike which hit the post was taken by Ronaldo Lucena, but he does not get the chance with the next free-kick in a dangerous position.

It is 30 yards out and this time Adalberto Penaranda takes aim. And what a shot it is, as it just flies past the post. Close, but not close enough. A great hit though.

I know Venezuela hit the post with that long-range free-kick but England deserve their lead. They've dominated. I just hope they continue to play how they have been. They've been really positive. Don't sit back now.

Everton fans are going to love Ademola Lookman. He looks a real handful as he jinks past three players, before eventually being crowded out by some desperate defending.

Of course, Toffees fans will know a bit about the 19-year-old, who joined in a £10m move from Charlton in January and then scored his first Premier League goal in a 4-0 win over Manchester City on his debut.

Great persistence. The first chance was really well saved, unfortunately for the keeper the rebound falls to Dominic Calvert-Lewin who slots it in the corner. Whatever the age group - that's a goal in a World Cup final. What is he, only the third English player to do that?
